The Other Side

by M.D Khamil

Dave woke up from his deep
slumber as he heard the scream. He found out that his wife was gone. She was no
where to be seen in the room.

“Honey? Jane? Where are you?”

The flapping sound from the next
room made Dave immediately get off his bed and see what was going on. He bolted
quickly to the next room and was stunned to see his wife was lying cold on the
floor. Her eyes were wide opened as if she saw something terrifying before her
eyes.

“Jane? Wake up now my dear.
Jane!” There was no respond. Dave check out her pulse. There was nothing. Her
heart was not beating. She was dead. Frustrated with terror, Dave was screaming
alone in the room begging for his wife to come back.

It was dark and cold. Jane heard
voices sounded familiar.  Her body felt
so light. Waking up slowly she opened her eyes. She was in a wood, looked like
some place she had been before. Apparently, she was lying on a mini concrete steps,
her arms were covered with dusts, like burnt ashes. She talked to her self.

“Where am I?” Then she recognized
the place. It was Mehandipur Balaji Temple. The abandoned temple she had been
to before. A voice she recognised calling her name.

“Jane? Is that you?” said the
voice.

“Dave?” replied Jane. The voice
was coming from behind the temple’s door.

“Oh honey, I missed you so much!
Please I need to see your face! I really missed you!” Jane heard her husband
crying calling her name while struggling to open the door.

“Dave No! No! Stay where you are!
Do not open the door! DO NOT OPEN THE DOOR!”
