Part 1: The Wishing Box

by M.D Khamil
“Peter! You have to believe me! I saw him last night!” shouted Megan across the living room near to the newly decorated Christmas tree. “You have got to believe me, I know this sounds really crazy and doesn’t make any sense to you but it’s true, it’s what happened!”
“Meg, I don’t know what to believe anymore. You’ve caused me enough trouble. I’ve been beaten up for all your mistakes just to protect you. Please don’t tell me that you stole that watch from Mr. Hamilton’s shop.”
“What? No! I didn’t!”
“And please stop lying. I’m very tired of this Meg.” Peter walked away and went upstairs to his bedroom.
“Peter! Stop! Wait!”

Megan rushed upstairs to meet his brother again, knocking the door like crazy.
“Peter! Please open the door! I can explain! There’s something I want to show you!”
Peter couldn’t stand the noise so he decided to open the door.
“Gosh Meg, what the heck? You’re going to destroy the door!” his brother said angrily. Megan rushed in grabbing and pulling Peter’s arm to sit on the bed.
“Hey what’s the rush? You’re gonna knock off my arm from my body!”
Megan took a deep breath and started talking.

“First of all, I didn’t steal the watch. Secondly, I have this small box with me. I found it on the table. Santa Claus was here around 2am in the morning, when I was about to use the toilet. I thought it was some criminals but it was not!”
“Meg what are you talking about? Are you okay? Santa Claus never existed.” Said Peter discouragingly.
“Peter! You gotta listen to me! I knew what I saw this morning! Santa Claus wasn’t alone. He was helped by few elves, to deliver the presents. I even thought I was dreaming, I pinched myself for that, see this bruise on my left arm.”
“What makes you so sure?” asked Peter.
“They walked through solid materials. Santa and his elves moved around freely through walls while they were delivering the presents. This morning mom and dad asked me if I had put the presents under the Christmas tree, but I had to lie, so I said yes and told them that we were preparing the presents. Forget the myth about Santa going down through the chimney and carrying a big sack full of presents. No it’s not true. He had this.”
Megan showed Peter the small size box that looked like biscuits box.

“This box, will grant you any stuff you wish for. This watch, you accused me of stealing, duh, I got it from this box. I saw Santa do it to make the presents and pull it out from this box! I accidentally dropped the vase while stalking them last night and they were in a hurry leaving the house, and left the box on the table. If you don’t trust me then give it a go. Make a wish.”
Peter was hesitating but he gave it a go.
“I wish for a new glasses.”
“Now you open it and insert your hand inside the box.” Megan instructed.
“Meg, why is it so deep?” asked Peter.
“I don’t know, the box probably connected to another dimension.”
Finally Peter grabbed something and pull it up. It was a brand new glasses. Peter seemed to be in shocked. But his eyes were clearly sparkled from the magical stuff he just witnessed.
“Meg, are you thinking what I’m thinking?”
“Yes I do. Santa will come back to get this box back.”
