The child martyrs

by Manahill Naik
DUM DUM DUM
Those big boots
Their soles plastered with innocent blood
Crunching those weak bones that lay hereby
Once, which was a school
Now, was filthier than a pig sty
*******
Cruelty was that of the ramasses'
Of the Korah
Of the Nimrod
Tell me a word that is greater than cruel
Is there such a word to sum up their sins?
For they painlessly murdered the children
The scent of the nation
The colors of the sky
The beauty of the moon
Sweet as the nightingale's cry
The early dew on the leaves
The greenery of the trees
The sunshine in the night
The merry flying kite
Who in the world is barbaric enough?
To shun all the blessings of the life.
********
Sometimes I wondered,
How could they survive,
The ones who gave birth to the now dead?
Are they wailing?
Or have they gone deep,
In the dark of the night?
For winters fly,
Summers, goodbye,
But they are adhered,
To that mere time,
When life won't budge on,
Will they survive?
*********
Hail to all those who suffered
And the ones who carried the coffins
For the smallest of them are the heaviest of all
They held them with pride
Lost all, yet never fall
**********
They left the warmth of their homes on a cold morning,
Only to gain,
To learn to stand tall,
Now they lie in their graves,
The graves that are so tiny, so light, so small
***********
Their foes thought,
We'd frighten them so bad
They won't step out of their realm
We'd upset their entire lives
Like a storm on a land
But they still wake up everyday
To exit the warmth of the night
To welcome the new day
They fear not,
The ones who are cowards
Who fought against the weaker
Who fought against a child
A land which was supposed to color with the cries
Still wakes up everyday,
With a determined strong smile!

February 5, 2016 - 23:01 I'm lost for words, but I know, it already makes a difference just because we write about it. Other people see it, and react to it.
