Catch a glimpse of her

by Manahill Naik
Catch a glimpse of her
Her honey copper eye
The right side of her butter cup head,
Weaved in bright loose curls
Her crisp white frock, unstained
She peeks from behind the sheep's flock
Quieten the noise of the world
See,
She might be peeking around your block.
*
Catch a glimpse of her
In the wide blue sky
From behind the burning sun
She parts its flaxen rays
And peeks
Tell the lovers who part ways
To hush the noise of heated talks
To leave the bitter words unsaid
And catch a glimpse of her flickering white frock
Before the white gets stained
**
Catch a glimpse of her
In the placid night sky
From behind the silver moon she peeks
Her legs dangles to and fro, dusts away the pewter aura
Tell the lonely to be at peace
To burn out the cigarette smoke
That stains the white of her sleeve
***
Catch a glimpse of her
For she peeks from behind the cheeping birds
From behind locked palms
From behind linked arms
From behind scattered leaves
From behind spring trees
Wipe the smoke, the dust, the heat
Keep her pure white from staining
Silence the clash of the swords
The burning lies, deceitful words
Keep her from scaring
Keep her from peeking
Urge her to come out
Be at peace
Blow away your doubts.

January 2, 2017 - 20:07 This is beautiful, Naik. I wonder what will happen to her at the end of 365 days. Hope she won't be stained.
