(Chapter 9) - Saved! You Sure?

by M.D Khamil
Knock, Knock, Knock.
Someone was knocking on Jack’s bedroom door, and it happened to be Mrs. Boyle, Linda, the siblings mother.
“Hey! Opened the door, why is it locked?” shouted Mrs. Boyle from behind the door.
“Wait mom! We’re busy!” said Luna panicking.
“Jack, you gotta do something about that book! I’m going to unlock the door and let mom in.” Luna walked to open the door and Mrs. Boyle didn’t look that happy either.

“Luna? What are you doing in your brother’s room? And why the door is locked?” questioned Mrs. Boyle with her uplifted left eyebrow.
“We’re busy studying! For school project!” replied Luna with her forced smile.
“Studying? You haven’t even taken your bath yet!”
“I decided to take my bath after I finished this homework with Jack.”
“Yeah you better do that young girl, you smell horrible!”
Mrs. Boyle notice that her son Jack wasn’t even care to look at her. While Luna been acting weird and suspicious, Mrs. Boyle suspected that there must have been something wrong with her two children.

“What is that sound? And what’s with the bright light?” Mrs. Boyle was very curious what was Jack doing at the back of his bed. She started walking in to get to him but Luna was blocking her mother.
“Mom! No! Stop!” yelled Luna.
“What’s wrong with you Luna? I’m trying to see what’s your brother up to!”
“No. It’s very dangerous! Jack is making a project for our science school project that involved a light bulb, wires, conduit circuits and a lots of batteries!” The ideas just popped inside Luna’s head without knowing what she was talking about.
“School project? Hmmm really? Then I must see it.”
“No mom stop!” stopped Luna again.
“Jack is still testing and experimenting with the prototype, it’s a volcano project. Can’t you see he’s wearing a goggle? To protect his eyes. Last week when he tried to run it for a quick test the thing exploded!”
“Oh my! Are sure that’s safe?” Mrs. Boyle looked stunned.
“Yes it is safe, with enough safety gears. That’s why I don’t want you to go there, because you don’t have any safety gears with you.” Sighed Luna and pleased at the same time.
“Oh! Well, be careful children, I don’t want any tragedies happening here. After two of you done with your school project, don’t forget to take your bath and eat your lunch downstairs. The food is getting cold.”
“Okay mom.” Replied Luna with a smile. Not forcing it this time. Then Mrs. Boyle walked away from the room, shut the door closed and went downstairs.

“That was pretty smart of you Luna.” Jack giving him an annoying grinned.
“God! You have no idea I've almost losing my sanity!”
“But you did great! Thanks sis!”
“You’re welcome, pig. Anyway, have you figured out how to shut the god damn book for good?”
“No but Luna I don’t feel that well. I think I’m going to get really sick.”
“Jack why I’m feeling like this house is going to crumble and crash into pieces?”
Then, the glowing book Jack hold in his arms, levitated into mid air and the pages rushly flapped to a page with big title named “Present is Now”. There were ten sub titles under the main title and every one of them doesn’t look that fascinating. They were going to travel again into another dimension to complete their next mission.
