(Chapter 8) - Back Home, For Now

by M.D Khamil
It was very dark now in the wood. Luckily both Jack and Luna wasn’t really that far from their house.
“We’re back! We’re back!” Luna excitingly jumping about the ground and in the air happily.
“It’s seems like we are! Let’s get back home, we’re already late! Mom must be freaking out that we’re missing for few days!” Jack replied. Both of them ran quickly back to their home. Jack was very worried about their parents. He thought that they must have been worried sick. Soon after they reached home and Luna knocked on the door.
“Tock! Tock! Tock! Mom! We’re home!” said Luna. Then someone opened the door. It was their father. He was a tall man about eight-five feet or less, he wore an old style traditional suit outfit, like those we seen in the early nineteen hundred. He has a jaw line on his face, some wrinkles and a graying short trim beard. For a an old man around his fifties, he looked quiet handsome.
“Oh children! You’re back. You came home late, three hours after both of you finished school. You have extra classes?” Mr. Boyle asked. Jack and Luna both glare to each other, like they couldn’t believe what did they just heard.
“Yeah! We had extra classes! Exams will come very soon!” Jack forced a bitter smile, lying.
“Oh well, just glad you two came back home safe. Come in quick, go bath and change your clothes. Where are your school bags?”
“Uhh, upstairs dad. We didn’t bring our bags at school today since it was mostly preparing for what subjects we should focus and group studies.” Luna, confidently answered while in the inside she felt like being pushed between two thin narrow walls. Immediately they went inside.

Luna saw her mother in the kitchen. She was preparing for dinner. Luna’s mother stayed home most of the time, she’s a housewife and took care of house chores and anything related to family matters. All goes to her. She’s a great mother who always spend times together with her husband and her two children, sharing problems. She has a nice dark brown hair leveled to her shoulders. Her hazel eyes was the reason, Mr. Boyle fall in love with her at first sight. Recently, she’s been so obsessed trying new recipes from her newly bought cookbook. Luna approached her giving her a big bear hug from the back.
“Mom! You have no idea how much I’ve missed you!”
“Hey! What wrong with you Luna. You see me like everyday. That’s very unusual for you to say to me. But thank you, I guess I missed you too. You definitely need to take a bath now you smelled like mud. Then, get back down here and have dinner.” Luna nodded and ran upstairs to meet up with his brother.

“I can’t believed what had just happened!” Jack was in a complete shocked. “We’ve been missing for three days inside the book but out here it was just three hours!”
“I know right! This is so not normal but fascinating at the same time. Jack, what do you think happened to Cinder after this?”
“She’ll be fine, and I’m very sure of that. By the way Luna where’s the book?”
“I don’t know. Wait, what’s that buzzing sound?”
“It sounds very familiar.” Replied Jack nervously. They were looking out for the source of the sound. And there, under Jack’s bed, was the book buzzing and brightly lit in golden light.
