Generally I am an Indian and 'I am proud to be an Indian'............oops!sorry,I would love to say that however I didn't say that and I am always confused as to why people in my country say this. I don't want to put my country down,it's just the way I feel, to cover the loop holes it has.
India is a wonderful country to visit and the culture here is a complete mixture of all the spice in life.People in India follow lot many rituals and customs. Overall, they have build to many norms to lead a normal life.Technology wise, it is developing ,however, when you speak about people's mentality, it is still stagnant.Basically every country has its good and bad face, likewise , the worse thing about India is there is still gender discrimination.
Nowadays, almost everyday I come across headlines in newspaper whose content is either about rape or a child getting murdered by their own parents as it was a girl child.
In my real life, I have also come across many situations were I was pointed out to be weaker in compare to the other gender.
Though I have tried raising my voice but I was never heard. However, there is one instance which I will never forget as I was able to save someone's life or rather to be precise a child's life.
In my colony where I used to stay earlier, a family used to live in a rent house who had three sweet daughters. It was a joint family and almost everybody in that family was fond of a boy child. The elder daughter was five years old, second one was two years old and the third one was only three-months.The mother was very happy with them and didn't want any more child.Only for this reason, everyday she used to have a fight with her in-laws. In my colony very few families used to live for which it was quiet audible enough if any fight used to happen. Moreover, that lady was very close to my mother for which she used to share almost everything. After knowing everything, many times my mom asked her to file a complain against her in-laws to police but somehow she was not courageous enough to do that.
Everyday in the afternoon I used to go for my swimming class and generally used to come back around 6.00 or maximum by 6.30 pm.I still remember it was Thursday when I was almost an hour late than the usual time. On my way back to home I heard a crying sound from a garbage which was just few minutes away from my home. When I went there I saw a baby.I was completely in tears to see that baby struggling to save herself from the ants that was biting her literally .I immediately picked her up and wrapped her with my scarf and took her to my home.My parents were also shocked to see that baby in that condition .After cleaning and feeding that little angel we put her off to sleep, meanwhile, my father lodged a police complain.
Finally ,after all the investigation we came to know that the child belonged to our next door family .The poor mother didn't open her mouth as she was threatened by her in-laws that if she tries to raise her voice then they will kill her elder daughter also. The police informed that the child will be only hand over to the mother if she agrees to stay with her children in her maiden's place for their safety.
So, from this life example I learned one thing is how people in my country is still back dated and do not hold a positive mind frame about sex discrimination.
I hope that by reading this story you will understand that how we as a human can take a positive turn by simply diverting our mind towards positiveness.
