The Two Sangoma

by LUIS K.
Mano was walking majestically in the middle of the road as usual he was whistling some loony tune, he seemed to have a heart made of music and whenever he walked or did anything you could hear the vibrations of music coming from inside him, he was a creature who delighted in music and he so loved to hum an exotic beat as he was doing right now, he was dressed in the normal manner of village youth, old trousers and shirts, on his feet sandals made from an old motor vehicle tares rubber.
It was a sunny day and he was walking fast to try and reach a place with ample shade which normally would be his home but on that he wasn't decided yet;could be possible he would end up at his cousin home where they would make jokes till sun down.

A head of him he noticed something very disturbing a sangoma from his village who was versed in dark arts, was walking towards him at the edge of the road, he was almost touching the live hedge meanwhile the eyes of the sangoma were darting furtive glance towards the other opposite end of the road, this made Mano curios and he quickly shifted his glance to the other, he noticed a female sangoma who was feared on the other side of the road trying to pass him, what was funny is that she was also pressed against the edge darting furtive glances towards the first sangoma.

Manu recalled that amongst his people it was believed that two powerful sangomas cant pass each other without a collision of their powers and to be caught in-between the two was to acquire immortalized abilities though at the danger of loss of ones life or madness, Mano prepped his mind and projected a persona through the ancient art of his people he successfully projected the form of the sacred ostrich in a bid to counter the spells which the two sangomas might cast on him, upon realizing who had moved between them, and he effectively passed them as they appeared to have immediately entered into a trance, he quickly by passed them and rushed home speaking not a single word of the incident to anyone.
...........................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

Later on the two sangomas went to their shrines and tried to use their spells independently to bewitch Mano but unknown to them they up ended bewitching each other, and with each spell they cast Mano grew stronger, eventually he became a great and respected leader. He gained ability to interpret the omens and foretell the future.

Mano still walks and breathes Mano still hums under his breathe but now he doesn't need to anymore, for wherever he goes the element conspire and transmit music to him. They say Mano is a son of an immortal who walks as one of them, for they claim only an immortal could have survived the onslaught of sorcery that was cast by the two sangomas. Mano walks and lives and he behaves as though he is an ordinary lad though he is rumored to be a very powerful healer, alot of things are rumored about him no one really knows whats true and whats fiction.
