The Beggar who Gives

by manelyn
Sandro looked at a spot near the church where he used to see Sheena everyday, and as usual, she's not there. He's wondering why, for two years, he has not seen her, even her shadows. She used to sit there innocently, waiting for some people who would give her spare coins or alms, if not the cold stares she often receives. Sandro's also a beggar, but he made it a point to pass by in this spot everyday. From his earnings for the whole day, he gave her a part of it. For him, she needed more than he did. And that routine went on for years, until two years ago....

Up to this date, even if he's not sure whether Sheena would be there or not, Sandro still comes to Sheena's place everyday. He missed her innocence, her jovial look despite the poverty, and her positive spirits that seemed to soar. Nobody could tell where she's gone to, but he keeps on asking people. He would still wait for that one day to come.

Two years and a couple of months after, he seemed to be losing hope of finding her, and wanted to give up. But one day, just as he was leaving her spot near the church, he saw a woman, beautiful and rich-looking woman, standing at the place where Sheena used to be before. He doesn't know who the woman is, but she was looking at him for a long time. He then decided to come to her.

"Hello ma'am, do we know each other? Have you been here before? I'm sorry for asking, but you look familiar to me," he asked. "No, but one person have, and she has helped me before, so I wanted to give her back a favor," the woman said.

"Well, may I know who she is?" he then inquired.

"She's Sheena, and she helped me one time even if we're strangers. I was stuck on a road because of my car, and she helped me without hesitation," she stated. "She's now in London, and I came here because she told me that she has such a good heart because of one person who used to help her before, despite his own life condition," she added.

"Oh, really? Thank God, she's alive," Sandro exclaimed.

"Yes, and I came here to thank you, and give you an opportunity for being such a good person. I will be helping you to have your own source of income, a business of your own. I know I will not be helping you alone, because you will be able to help more people Sandro," she explained.

Sandro felt stunned and couldn't believe the truth of the woman's intentions. He will be having his own source of income! And a business at that! All because of Sheena, the girl whom he thought was long gone. He didn't know the impact of his everyday visit to her, of the small amount that he used to give to her. May God bless this woman and Sheena. And may He continue to guide him so that he could share this blessings with others too.
