Past ruins the future

by P'yonce Knowmore
One day on a saturday morning, Lisa woke up and found her husband staring at her nervously in their bed. She was so shocked when she found her man staring at her like that and she felt frightened too. He said to her, "Good morning dear. We need to talk!" He sounded very serious but Lisa did not like the feeling she had when he said those words. She replied quickly with a shaky voice, "You mean...now?" "Yes now. It's very important so I'm afraid it can't wait." He quickly said, gazing at Lisa's eyes very seriously and with curiosity, Lisa said, "Fine then. If it can't wait, shoot!"

"I think it's time we started a family." said Luther as nervous as he was of what Lisa might say. "What? I thought we've discussed this long time ago." replied Lisa. "You discussed it, I just listened while you talked. Anyway it's been three years since we've got married. I think it's time now." "I know but I've told that I'm not ready for children and you even said you understood."

The conversation continued for days as Luther was so busy trying to convince his wife to stop taking the pill and get pregnant. Lisa had never destined herself for that day especially that she had convinced herself that her husband understood. They spent the whole week busy discussing the same subject over and over again, that Lisa hated. She told him to stop pressuring her into something that she was against but he wouldn't listen so he kept on bringing the subject up. She was not happy at all about her husband's demand but she finally agreed to stop taking the pill.

The next few weeks, Lisa founded out that she was pregnant and told her husband. He was so over the moon with joy but Lisa hated how her body changed. Her clothes couldn't fit anymore and she was even ashamed to walk out the house with her big stomach. Luther started to do almost every house chores and cooked for Lisa just to make her feel better.

The big day arrived and Lisa gave birth to a beautiful healthy girl. They were so happy and they did almost everything for her. Days passed by and everything was so perfect.

Suddenly after two years, everything changed. Lisa became so grumpy and violent. She started beating her child up for no valid reasons. Neighbors started to wonder about the noise at Lisa's house. One neighbor told Luther about what happens when he's not around. He said, "I'll take care of it."

The next day before Luther could go to work, he placed a video camera in his house. He couldn't believe what he was seeing with his eyes. Lisa was hitting Patience repeatedly.

Luther left everything at work and headed straight home where he got there angry as ever. Lisa was crying but Luther did not take any notice of that. It was founded that Lisa was sexually abused when she was still young. Every time she thought about that experience, she became so angry and hit her child. Her experience was affecting her marriage and her relationship with her child which was why she never wanted a child in the first place.

Sometimes we break up with the ones that were meant to be our soul mates and as the time goes on we miss them terribly.
