Is lucid dreaming dangerous? but more importantly what is lucid dreaming? Lucid dreaming is a state between being asleep and being awake. Where you are actually aware that you are dreaming. It can be interesting, because you are able to control things that is happening in your dream. It feels like you have super powers as you are able to control aspects of your dream with your mind. Research that have been done on lucid dreaming indicates overwhelmingly that it has to do with the interaction between your conscious and sub-conscious minds.

It sometimes occurs when you find yourself in a dangerous situation and you need to overcome whatever it is that you are facing. Very similar to the fight or flight response, you then may either completely wake up "flight" or fall into this lucid state "fight/face your fears". Either way it may cause you to break-out into a cold sweat when you wake up or to overcome whatever deeper fear it is that you have in your sub-conscious mind.

So is lucid dreaming dangerous? In my personal opinion my answer would be no, as there are no recorded incidences of anything bad happening to someone due to lucid dreaming. It may even be a tool that can be used to overcome the fears held in your sub-conscious mind.
