Insomnia

Insomnia ensued due to overthinking,
Deep waters in which I'm slowly sinking,

They told me things would be different,
But people still seem to be indifferent,

Unaware of the hardships we face,
Ignorant of the consequences we embrace,

Faces lit up with fake smiles,
Convincing our selves to hold on for a little while,

They say things will get better,
But they don't know that we can't wait forever,

Yet I see a faint light at the end of the tunnel,
Can I reach it before my dreams crumble?

Family and friends, are those who we live for?
Is it wrong for a person to want more?

Such is the life of a person faced with depression,
Constantly at war with life's suppression,
