Thousands of elk hunters every year take to the woods to hunt elk. According to some recent stats less than 32% of all elk hunters have any real success. This is usually due to the fact that the 32% that are having success are well experienced or using an elk hunting outfitter. An outfitter can help to greatly increase your odds of harvesting an elk. The reason they are so successful is they usually have many years of hunting experience and know the area very well where they offer their hunts. However, just because someone calls themselves an outfitter doesn't mean they are any better at harvesting an elk than you are. You need to do proper research to find the perfect hunting outfitter for your elk hunt.
The first thing you need to do is use Google to find outfitters in the state you plan to hunt elk in. You'll want to search for terms like "Colorado elk hunting" or Colorado elk hunting outfitters". Obviously replace Colorado with whatever state you wish to hunt in
best turkey vest. Using Google build a list of 6 to 12 outfitters that interest you; don't base you decision on the quality of their website, that has no bearing on the quality of their outfitter services. Once you've got your list you'll want to then use Google and search for the exact name of each outfitter on your list. This will help you see if there are any negative reviews or outstanding complaints against that outfitter.
After you've narrowed down your list of outfitters to ones that have no negative reviews or complaints you'll want to make sure they are properly licensed with the state. You'll want to call the wildlife management department for the state they operate in and ask if they are properly licensed and/or have any outstanding issues with their department. It's important to make sure that outfitter can legally offer their services before you make any deposits. DO NOT make any deposits until you are sure you want to use that outfitter. Once you've picked a few that can legally operate in your chosen state you'll want to call and ask them questions such as "What is your success rate?" and what do they offer if you tag out early; such as finishing or other game hunting. By properly researching yourhunting outfitter you can ensure you won't have to worry about having a negative experience.
