Facing the first ever work experience. In just three days time.
Was currently what was on Gemma`s Davies mind. Those four exact words of " first ever work experience" constantly lingered around in Gemma's mind. They just would not stop Gemma Davies was going to be attending a two weeks work experience placement at the local Darion library. As Gemma Davies, a Lakeside high school student, was currently sitting down on the small leather burgundy sofa, watching a drama type film. Happily watching her top favourite actor star called, Bradley Pierce, who she always liked for ages up till now. Who was a tall, fair haired actor in his early twenties now. And an extremely talented actor. At least that was exactly what Gemma Davies greatly thought of the actor. The famous actor, Bradley Pierce, could never compare to anybody else. For Gemma Davies though.
Over the weekend Gemma Davies, invited over two of her close friends from school. Sally Burgess and Tina Davies. They were both so similar in their personality type. Like the old saying goes of "like two peas in a pod". Excellently said about the three friends. They were all so bubbly, fun going and got on excellently. At least the large majority of the time, Gemma Davies thought. They both reassured her that she would be fine, once she got started in the workplace after a while. She thought it was slightly wishful thinking, but maybe her friends would be right. Time would tell over the next two weeks.
That same weekend in late June, went by sooo quickly. As almost all weekends do. When Gemma Davies woke up slowly out of bed on Monday morning, a good mix of emotions flooded all over her. In one swift go. She was feeling slightly nervous, doubtful and excited at the same time. Gemma walked slowly to the local Darion library in the heart of the town centre at around eight thirty on Monday morning. Not too early, but not too late she thought. It was really important for her to create a punctual first impression of herself. It was really going to be her first ever week working at the library. The librarian and one of the library assistants working at the Darion main library, greeted and introduced themselves warmly and friendly towards her.
That first week of her work experience placement, she was given a tour around the main library, and helped the library to do some photocopying of posters around the library and tidied up all the books at the end of each day. She was so glad that both of her friends were right. And had to admit that she thoroughly enjoyed herself. It did not even compare slightly to the typical daily routine of schoolwork, homework and sometimes the stress of taking occasional mock exams. Much better in comparison. In the second week of working in the library, she mostly helped to assist the librarian Mrs Sallis, with many of the customers borrowing and renewing their books.
Overall Gemma felt that she had such a great rewarding work experience during those two weeks. And gained so much experience. Maybe after she left school next year, she would think about seriously taking a librarian college course. She had so much to tell for both of her friends afterwards.
