Visiting Charles Darwin`s town

by MinPerring90
It was arranged a while back by our science teacher that the whole science class was going to go to Shrewsbury town centre. As part of the science coursework that all of the students were currently undertaking of the life and works of Charles Darwin. Who lived in the heart of Shrewsbury. Just along the outskirt of Frankwell; living in the large Mount house back in the nineteenth century. Who became a highly well known scientist and geologist. And later in his life published his own book called the Origin of the Species.

So the next morning I got a lift in my dad`s car a little earlier than usual. Seeing as we lived in Bayston Hill, on the other side of Shrewsbury town centre. I arrived a little earlier than most of the students, only just by about ten minutes though. When all of the students arrived, our science teacher drove us all off in a white mini bus and not long after, considering there was not much traffic at all on the roads. He parked the mini bus in the Frankwell car park near to the bridge. The trip was arranged at the right time, seeing as there was a great flooding all across the Frankwell field and car park. The flood had got that high and bad. Filled with lots of flood defences.

First we all started to walk along the Charles Darwin`s river walk location at the far end of the Frankwell field. Where Charles Darwin used to walk along back in his time.At the back of the Shrewsbury gateway building and flats in Chester Street. It got rather muddy underfoot and slippery so we took extra caution and walked on the far side of the path that we could manage. Sometimes my relatives would take a canoeing trip on the River Severn during the summer months in the year. And absolutely loved it. Who wouldn`t. And pushed the wooden gate and walked alongside the countryside site opposite the pig trough path. And continued walking slightly uphill on the path opposite the river Severn and Shrewsbury showground field. Which lead into Drinkwater street in Frankwell and alongside Darwin Street. The street named after Charles Darwin. Finally walking up to the Mount house before driving off back to school. Where we would be expected to write down notes about our trip afterwards.

It turned out to be a great trip for all of the students. Where we learned quite a lot.
