Diary (Day 29, 30)

Day 29

It’s raining just like yesterday. I like the weather because it is cool. But the rain spoils it. If I were in California I would completely enjoy the weather. But hell, I am here doing nothing. I’d like to do some real work but I can’t go out into the rain.

Day 30

Today is Friday. I finally have written a letter to the sportswriter. I’m not sure if he will reply. Anyway the letter is all praises for his brilliancy and wittiness. It’s a phony letter, I have to admit. I used to be an iconoclast and I swear I’ll never write such a letter again. If you want read it, here it is:

Dear Sportswriter,

I always read your Sunday issue of Philippine Daily Inquirer. I don’t read other columns, especially those written by boring political writers. I know they are as ridiculous as the politicians whom they often attack or insult. But your articles, well, they are brilliant and amusing. Although you write about sports, there is something more than that. If a work—whatever its subject—attracts a reader’s interest, it must be good. I enjoy reading your column for its rich content and entertaining witty style.

Yours ingratiatingly,
L. A. Fernandez Jr.

Reader, don’t read this again or show it to your friends. If you do, you must be phony.
Let others and the author know if you liked it

Liked it alot?
