Chapter five
They knew the whole shebang about each other. The bad times, the good times. The troubled times. Problems, money……. there were no enigmas between them.
He even once for fun, drinking and partying with his buds, grabbed buns from a store. (Really not the person he is at all.) They were caught, booked in jail for a night and did community service for a month; cleaning the Town hall floors. He wasn’t the kind of person, that could stick to something and push through. He started studying, after three months, he abandoned that as well. Him and Jen almost spend every day in each other’s company. If he wasn’t with her, he was spending time with his girlfriend.
On Fridays he and Jen would spend their day in The Shopping Mall. They would walk into every shop and buy anything they desired.
Lunchtime they visited an Italian Bistro, with the best Pizza in town. The Bistro, was a two story with the upper deck build out of wood. It had kitchen like chairs, with plastic orange covers on the tables and a dark lit atmosphere, with candles. It had an exciting vibe. They would drink, “jam jars”, with shooters. They always ordered a pita for a starter, covered in olive oil, feta cheese and garlic. It was divine, the taste of the garlic and olive oil combination was astounding……. Jennifer and Winston could sit a whole afternoon there, eating pizza, drinking, chatting, laughing. Most times to the point, that they were not really in the condition to drive home.
Winston and Dalton had to fly to another city for job interviews (which Jen think, was just a trip, for a fun outing). Jennifer gave them a ride to and back from the airport.
Winston was in the front seat next to her, babbling away about the trip, the people who they had the interview with and all Jennifer heard was: “blah, blah, blah, beblah…….” Her eye was only fixed on Dalton, who was sitting in the back seat. Jen and Dalton couldn’t stop making eye contact with each other. Every time their eyes locked, there were something going through both of their minds. She could see it in his eyes, he desired her. There was that lust in his eyes, when a man want’s a woman.
Dalton pat Wilson on the shoulder; asking his bro if he is going to his girlfriend that afternoon. Winston answered him: “Are you an idiot, of course I am!” He asked Wilson if he would mind that he spend the afternoon with Jennifer, since he had nothing to do at home and was bored. Winston said he didn’t mind, as long as Dalton behave himself. They all started laughing and Jen nervously asked Winston: “What does that mean?” He told her, he told his brother to stay away from Jennifer, because he doesn’t want anything to jeopardize their friendship. Jen just laughed. She did not know what to say.
That afternoon became the day Jennifer would never forget. It was the turning point in her life, that turned her whole world upside down and inside out. After that afternoon Jennifer’s life was never the same again….
They dropped Winston off and Dalton jumped in the front seat, it was just a few minutes drive to her house. On the way there she didn’t say much, but Dalton kept on chatting about natty gritty stuff…..
When Jen stopped in front of the security gate, she waited for it to open. She felt very nervous, since this “sense” has developed between them, they have never been alone.
