One day a woman was walking on the road to the green pastures and she could feel the drizzle on her body. It was a cloudy evening and she had to return back to home before the sun sets. Roma had only one child and he was only 10 years old. Her husband died in a tragic accident and she had to care for her son no matter what the situation was. She was a wealthy woman but had to elope with James to marry him. After one year of their marriage, James met with an accident and lost his life leaving one son for her to survive for. She had lived all these years as a woman working in the potato fields of Tennessee. She was earning 10 dollar a day and her house was nothing more than a hut with minimum facilities. Her son was going to school and their life was not less than misery. Roma had a constant fear of tribes attacking her territory. She hardly knew that her husband had encroached the land owned by tribes in the early 1980s. After her husband's death Roma had to encounter the tribal men on and off. She was not worried of her life but she definitely was intimidated by the fact that her son would be attacked or killed by the tribal men. Now only help she could get was from her fellow worker who was of her same age. Stephen was working with Roma since 5 years and she has disclosed every facet of her life to this man. If asked she could not figure out the kind of relationship she shared with this man. It could be friendship or it could be love. But definitely there was something more than friendship broiling between them. It was almost five in the evening and as Roma approached her home she could sense that someone had been to her home and as she moved closer she could see the blood stains on the sand. When she reached her home she could see that the door of her home was open and her only child was lying motionless on the floor. Nothing could make her move and she was staring at her son in despair. When she took her son in hand, she could smell the blood and she knew the slit on his neck had been imposed by the tribal people. As she cried desperately, she could see a man approaching her house and it was no one other than Stephen. A she moved close to him she could see the blood stained hands of her was trembling. Stephen rushed to the child and as he held the shoulder of Roma she lost her control and fell on the ground. But Stephen courageously piled him up and took him over to the shade under the tree and gave him air to breathe. As he pumped his chest he could feel the light movement in the child's chest and Roma came running to grasp her child but in am moment she could see her son closing his eyes and she knew she lost him. Crying deeply she hugged Stephen and he knew intuitively that Roma belongs to him forever and ever.
