Two children of a farmer were always arguing. They fought for any reason, like who was going to handle the plow, seeding and just almost everything. Every time there was a fight, they stopped talking. Unity seemed impossible between the two. They were proud and stubborn and it was difficult for his father to improve them. It was then that he decided to teach them a lesson.
To put an end to this situation, the farmer called them and asked them to go to the forest and bring home a bundle of firewood. The boys obeyed their father and once in the forest they began to compete to see who cut the most logs. When they completed the work, they returned home.
On seeing his sons with the logs of wood, the father told them:
- Gather all the logs, tie them tight with a rope and let's see who is the stronger of the two. They will have to break all the logs at the same time.
And so the two boys tried. But despite all their efforts, they did not succeed. Then he loosened the bundle and gave them the logs of wood one by one. Now, the boys could break them easily.
They realized now. The father told them, “if you remain united like the logs of sticks, you will be unbeatable in harsh conditions. But if you are divided you will be defeated with ease. When you are united, you are stronger and more flexible, and no one can harm you”. The boys thanked their father.
