The Materialistic Man II

by KumarVipul
Unfortunate for Dan "The Materialistic Man", the police of Morgan City, where Napa Lake was situated, was able to find the corpse of Robert near the lake somewhere and was in search of Dan. For someone who has just murdered an innocent man, hiding was not easy with those bloody footprints he was leaving behind on the sand he was walking on.
Jon and Charles, the two brave policemen were delegated the job of finding Dan and bring him back to the police station. They went on their mission to find a psychotic murderer. Well, Dan was psychotic and nobody judged his intentions to do such an offence. After killing Robert, he hid his body behind the mountains and ran towards the forest. His blood footprints were the evidence how swiftly he ran away by gap between two footprints. Maybe, Dan was scared or maybe he had some other job to do, to murder someone else.
Jon asked Charles suspiciously "Hey Charles, what do you think? Where could have Dan run away?” Charles turned around looking clueless "I don't know Jon, maybe towards the city". Jon kept quiet. They walked adjacent to the lake and suddenly the footprints were there right below them. The red blood footprints now turned brown. They observed and immediately understood the whole matter.
Jon asked "Do you think these are Dan's footprints?” Charles, with a little surety "They look so, let's follow them". They started following the footprints which were obviously going towards the forest. They entered the forest and switched on their torches as sun was about to set. They looked everywhere but were not able to find anything.
Jon asked again "Are you sure Dan ran towards the forest?” Charles, a little furious this time "Jon, you are recruited just two days back! I am your senior and you better keep your mouth shut as I know better than you". Jon kept quiet and followed Charles for a while. "Yes! Some evidences!" exclaimed Charles. They were looking towards the red hand prints on the trees. "I think Dan might have run this way" Charles pointed towards the direction in which all the trees were covered with partial blood hand prints.
They moved further and suddenly the forest ended. They walked forward and found Dan's blood filled clothes. Mystery was about to get solved. They found all the clues and evidences and all that was remaining was Dan himself. They moved further and realized they were walking around a hill and came back again where they first saw the bloody footprints but this time, they found two sets of blood footprints.
Jon asked "Hey Charles! What do you think? Why are there two sets of blood footprints?". “I don-" Jon took a knife and stabbed Charles in the back! Charles died painfully.
Jon was Dan "The Materialistic Man".

June 2, 2015 - 15:00 Just as I thought! I just think you can put more emotions in your story...like the emotions of Dan or Jon about the killings. But overall, I loved the story, I love crime stories :D Keep up the work, keep writing!
