The Lost Friendship

It’s been quite a long time since we have our cheerful conversation.
It’s been a while since we shared each other’s companion.
Do we have something against each other?
As far as I could remember, we were so happy together,
Yet when time and fate came to test us,
We did our best to pass through all those playful jokes.
But did we? Or have we failed?

Wasn’t it amazing how we treated each other yesterday?
And isn’t it a tragedy of what lies between us today?
Why can’t we just be like that before?
Is it really that impossible?
Is asking, Can we bring back what was lost?
Synonymous to, Can we re-heat the coffee after it has become cold?
I hope it is as easy as like that.

Come to think of it, we are given the freedom to choose what we want.
We can take the easy path.
We can just take a step forward and see what lies ahead of us.
Or have it the other way,
Take a step backward, see what we had
Try to have it back, work it out, and save what we had.
Is that possible?

If you were to asked me, I am willing to take a step backward,
Let’s forgive what we need to forgive.
Let’s forget what is needed to be forgotten.
Let’s run into each other’s arms again.
But I know this step is never that easy.
It requires pain and it takes a lot of courage to face it.
On the other hand, moving forward without looking back is easy,
Maybe not at first but as we get along we’ll get used to it.

Now I’m asking you, will you move forward just after looking back?
Or after we have taken a step backward?
I hope whatever lies ahead of us and what is there for the two of us
Will suffice us both and give our hearts the peace and love we deserve.
