"Okay, let's recap. What if he tries to punch you?"my dad asked in a hurry. "Um..mm...no......yeah, I will take a step back."I answered in a worried tone. We were at the stadium. I was training with the International Taekwon-Do Federation. They host a Championship every year. This was the second time when we came here at the stadium. I lost the first time. Everyone is saying "Don't be worried . Be brave.". Seriously? How can I act brave when I have a person standing in front of me who is destined to break every bone in my body? It was my turn. I started to go towards the ring. Uh-oh. My opponent was taller than my dad alone. His shoulders were so broad. Even dad looked worried.
The bell rung. We started to bounce our legs 3 centimeters above the ground. We started to move in circles. He made the first move by punching me . I took a step back but his hands were too long. One point to the big guy. Again he made a grab for my neck. After that, every thing went black.
I woke up to find myself at the medical room of the stadium. I sat up straight but my neck was not able to move. I didn't know why but I had a collar on my neck. I saw my dad beside me. "Hey dad, can you please help me sit up straight?". He helped me. "Where is my medal? I won right? He grabbed my neck and then I kicked him in the stomach. No?"I asked him anxiously. He shook his head in rejection.
We went home. My mom was waiting for me in the hallway. She was hoping that I would win. How could I tell her that I got beat up by a muscular guy and I could do nothing to protect myself? I couldn't. So without saying a word, I ran to my room and bolted the door from the inside. The next few days were terrible. Relatives who don't call me for wishing my birthday, called to ask why I lost. once I had the collar removed, I stayed inside and decided to quit martial arts. Then one day I saw a bunch of ducks trying to climb steps. I was spell bounded. But, they did it. I went into my room and sat completely silent on my bed for nearly a minute. Thinking hard. Then I went straight to my laptop. I searched for some motivational and inspiring quotes. I felt really touched.
I decide to join martial arts once again. But this time, I would work harder. I learned that anger wasn't the key to winning. One must be self-controlled in order to understand what move your opponent is going to make. I trained hard for a year and found myself in the stadium once again. This time, I wasn't worried.
The fight started . This time ,the opponent was bigger than the first one, but i defeated him easily. I couldn't believe myself. The guy looked pissed. I won 5 fights and won the 'MOST IMPROVED TROPHY'. I was so happy . I thought I was the king of the world!!!!!!!!
