The Sight

It was New Year’s Eve. I was celebrating at my friend’s house. We were telling jokes and discussing that how quickly time passes by. We all enjoyed, ate, drank, and talked all night. Then suddenly, my friend came to me and said “Hey Alex, check it out. I sniffed out some cigarettes from dad’s drawer. What do you say? What I mean is that no one goes in the jungle in the back.”.”Are you crazy? No way! We will surely get caught. Plus there are animals in the back.”I answered. “What? You are not going cuz you are afraid of animals in the back? Ha! The school will laugh Alex. And you will be scarred for life.” Obviously I couldn’t let him tell everyone. I had to take the challenge or else, face the worst fears of my life. “Done.” I said.

A few minutes later, we were in the jungle. “I got the matches. You ready?”He asked me. “Yeah. Let’s do it. You first.”I said. He struck the match and lit the cigarette in his mouth. He threw the match away. He took a deep breath in. He started to choke. He started coughing and wheezing. All of a sudden he threw the cigarette away too. “You OK there buddy?”I asked. “Yeah I’m alright ……I …..Just need some water. Wait here. I will be back. “He said and ran away without another word. “Hey!!! Stop!!!!! ” I shouted. He just kept running. I tried to calm myself down. Nothing could happen here. Could it?

Right that instant, something moved behind a tree. “Who’s there?” I asked. No response. “Who is it?”I asked again. I started to feel alone. Small. Pathetic. Helpless. I started to think that coming here was all a big mistake. Taking the challenge was a big mistake too. I started to turn my back but something caught my eye.

“Uh-Oh” a mutter escaped my throat. But what I saw was………unbelievable. I saw a figure of a man, 10-12 feet tall. His body was wet, or it just looked that way. His body was completely blue. His eyes were nearly the measure of a hand span. His hands were really long. They hung from the shoulders to the knees. The man started walking towards me. Now I was in trouble. I started to run back to the house but it was taking a long time as we decided to go as far as possible just for no getting caught. I was so smaller than the man. I reached the house and draped against the wall by my back. The man came to me. I was so scared that my whole face was wet from sweat like I had just bathed. The man started to hold my shoulders.

Now I could see his face clearly. It was……..disgusting. He had two eyes, no nose, two holes as ears and a really small mouth. Suddenly, I felt confused. Looking at his face was, making me dizzy. I didn’t know who I was, where I was, why I was here and what the thing standing in front of me was. I fainted.

The next day, dozens of reporters were lined up outside my house to interview me about the UFO landing the night before. So finally, I actually had a story which was not a dream……
