Stop female infanticide!

by Sivaranjini Senthilvel

The very moment you hear,
"It's a girl!"
Why are you soaked in melancholy?
Why does your heart pause beating?
What makes your eye pour out?
What is that which makes you repent?
Why is your heart turning cruel?
What pushes your brain into thinking about killing your own child?

Is she a malediction or malison?
Is she an imprecation from God?
Is she a curse or cess?

What is preventing you from considering her birth as serendipity?
What is that which makes you dislike this invaluable talisman?
What makes you slay this precious providence?
What forces you to poison this Dame Fortune?

If you had given her a pen,
She would've become a Barrett Browning!
She would have turned her words into weapons,
And would've slayed the stinky thoughts in your mind
With her wisdom and the might of her pen..

If you had encouraged her leadership skills,
She would've made another Margaret Thatcher
And would've shown how much powerfulness, a woman can possess
By her quick wit and brilliance in administration!

If you had given her the freedom to imagine...
She'd have become a Charlotte Bronte
And would've,for sure,inspired you
With stories, that portray how much a woman is capable of!

If you had given her the freedom to be curious,
She would've made another Marie Curie!

If you hadn't belittled her kind heart,
She'd have given the world, another Mother Teresa
Who purified the souls and minds of millions!

If you had appreciated her courage
She'd have become a Kiran Bedi,
And would've given her country some pride to possess...

If you had given her the right to put your name after hers,
She would have at least brought some fame to your name.

But instead, you yourself slayed your symbol of serendipity,
And boomeranged the Lady Luck that knocked your door!

What makes you act so barbaric?
Is it the dowry, you think you will be forced to pay?
If it is so,your thought,is then,such a tommyrott!
I don't say,
"She'll earn and pay it by herself!"
I'm saying,
"She'll abolish the dowry practice!!"
If she's not able to,
She will stay a fearless, contented spinster!
She will contribute to something, that has a purpose,
Will lead a life worth living,
And will inspire many more to do so!
Because.....
She is not a nincompoop who is half witted,to spend her life, living as a paying slave!

So train your brain to think and act wise!
Don't name your daughter,"Never-born"!

Remember,behind every successful woman,
Is another woman, who let her daughter,LIVE!

Let others and the author know if you liked it

Liked it alot?
