Peppermint and Persimmon.

"Yeah! mother today is a great day for me, i am going to the library with Ryan " Kate shouted .

She loved going with Ryan, so she dressed beautifully and waited for him, Ryan was not a punctual guy, he often came late but still Kate never shouted at him .

One fine day Ryan invited Kate to his birthday party, Kate felt very happy and danced in joy but there was something which made her feel stunned, she never knew what to gift him , she never knew his likes and hates.

So she went and asked her mother "Mother what shall i gift Ryan on his birthday ? "

"What do i know ? Ryan is not my friend he is your friend " Mother said

"Hum.... yes, Ryan loves Chicken pizza, we can gift him that " Kate said proudly

Mother scowled her face and said "Kate! are you out of your sense ? how can you gift a pizza on a birthday, he maybe suffering from tummy ache after having the pastries and chocolate mousses on his birthday "

Too confused, Kate rang up Ryan .

Ryan: Ryan here ! who is speaking ?

Kate : Its me Kate

Ryan: oh! Kate

Kate: Ryan! what do you like the most ?

Ryan: hum... Peppermint and Persimmon .

Kate: eh? okay , bye.....

Ryan: but why ? oh ! she cut it .

Kate was too confused about his like . If he could have said only Peppermint , she could have bought a bunch of it or only Persimmon she could have bought a basket full but peppermint and persimmon taste odd .

At first Kate went to a bakery and asked for peppermint and persimmon but the baker was too confused he gave a packet full of peppermint chocolate and said that

persimmons are only available in fruit stall or grocery shop not in bakery .

Kate : no, Sir i want peppermint chocolate with persimmon flavor .

Baker: Child ! i have no idea about peppermint and persimmon flavored chocolate .

Sadly Kate left the shop and went to a grocery shop and asked for peppermint and persimmon . The shopkeeper gave a bunch of fresh persimmon and gave a packet of peppermint seeds . Kate actually never wanted persimmon and peppermint seeds but she thought that Ryan liked it a lot .

On Ryan's birthday party, he invited all his best buddies and he was so happy to invite Kate . Kate thought that Ryan will like her gift the most because she bought his favorite . After cutting the cake its time to open the gifts, at first he opened Kate's gift but he was shocked to see that Kate had gave him Persimmons and Peppermint seeds , everyone burst into laugh seeing the gift .

"Ryan ! you said you like peppermint and persimmon the most and now you are laughing when i gave you it as a gift

Ryan gave a broad smile and said "Kate! you misunderstood me i actually said the novel named Peppermint and Persimmon, do you remember the one we saw on library that day "

Kate felt very sad tears rolled down the cheeks , Ryan held her shoulders and said " Anyways, thanks! for your gift . I love persimmons and peppermint seeds as i love peppermint tea made out of it . So thanks a lot Kate "

A broad smile came into her face , Ryan took a large persimmon and took a big bite of it . '' Yummy..."

" So come on let's have a persimmon party to..." said Ryan's mother.

"yeah! " everyone shouted with joy . Kate felt very happy to know that Ryan liked her gift a lot .
