Miracles of Heaven - Chapter 1

by Raviteja Paidi

…..The moment I arrived at the hotel, I felt there was something that’s trying to communicate. I stayed strong to let it know, I made my mind, and there’s no stopping whatsoever.

I hail from a middle class family with low on resources and high on dreams. My dreams always sounded silly and unreal to my peers and friends. “What did I dream for?” it definitely ain’t an invincible feat. Perhaps, nobody believed in me. But, this made me only stronger.

I’m headed to solve the greatest mystery that ever haunted me. Am I going to solve it? Well, time has to decide it. But, to do that I’d to meet Adhbtananda, a priest who lives in one of the oldest and sacred places of India. But, there’s a catch, the entire world believes that he died at least a decade ago. However, there’s a group who disbelieves in that, and I’m one of them.

One of my friends once said, Adhbutananda has just left the world only to return one day, and that’s going to be the inception for the world’s end. I asked my friend, if a peaceful being like him comes back, why do you think there would be any destruction? Perhaps, he’s coming to save us from that destruction, if any! - My friend never answered.

On the flip side, if my friend was true, what? adhbutananda has ended his peaceful life and return with the destructing side? - Is it a game of incarnations? We can only guess.

My journey to reach him follows a perfect plan aided with maps, gold, and some hired people. This book that I once found in the abandoned library of our city vipareeta is a guide to my journey. This book vikalpa was said to be appeared in the library and from nowhere, and only people destined to read it would ever find it. Well, I found it. But, am I destined to? Or is there a catch? - My journey gives me all the answers.

My journey, according to the book, to find his existence would last for 18 days. I should find and link the 18 clues that I find during my journey. If I even miss one clue, I would miss my entire journey.

“”..... Zzzzzz….”

Tomorrow is my first journey, the journey to the killers’ yard, the place famous for the cannibals. But, what clue do I find with the cannibals, perhaps, the conjuring that startled me up, was actually trying to help me with the answer? I don’t know.

…. The sound of dried leaves crushed under my feet is breaking the silence around. The silence is slowly getting defeated with the singing slow winds and burning firewood. The sparkles of the fire lights the darkness and are revealing a demon behind. As I walk closer, I started to hear the breathing sound made by the demon. Its breathing heavily, and the sound is different, it’s definitely not a human. “Wait… the demon starts to speak something, I can’t understand the language and neither the emotion.” - what is trying to say? Was it trying to speak to me? Or somebody there? How many of them are there in the darkness?

A ray of hope seemed to rising. It is a hut door. A old man, with a stick and long hair standing in the front perhaps, looking at me.

“We are waiting for you… Come!”

I shivered, but, this is my first stepping the journey. I cannot afford to get frightened. but, deep down my heart I was petrified. "Hadha hanga halomaya, havesti hara bhandhu" he said and repeated. I know their language, I was prepared. But, was it a clue? He meant, vacuum, water, is a game, existence is a joke, hail almighty. well, that's the best way I can comprehend that. But, wait... Is this a clue? I was thinking. The next moment, I was surrounded by a group of demons and was garlanded with a garland of bones. They made me sit and served blood, no, wine in a break-opened human skull.

This reminded me of a story that I heard when I was a kid. The story of Aghoras. Aghoras drink wine in a human skull to awaken their super conscious. But, do they intend the same to happen to me, perhaps! I didn't give it a chance. I gulped it down my throat quickly. As I drank the wine, I saw a shooting star in the sky. The shooting star suddenly blasted with a heavy sound. It sounded like steel hitting a hard ground...

... I woke suddenly for that sound. It was a cat and that was a dream. and that started my journey, the first step. A dream and a clue.

Did I finish my dream? Or the cat woke me up half the way? If I finished, what was the clue? The demons? The garland of bones? Old man's words? Shooting star or the Wine and Skull?
