Her eyes were like lakes. There was no color in them, just Black, but it seems all the colors of life have embedded in them. Her cheeks were scarlet, as are blushing. Utterly silent lips, as if, wanted to say something and last moment silenced. Her long hair as dark clouds of rain were fluttering like a snake.
“Wow, she must be a very beautiful girl!” asked Ritu. “Oh yes, she is!” replied Raghav. “I love her so much; she is the woman of my dreams. She deserves my love, respect, and honor.” Raghav was deeply in love with this girl and his younger sister Ritu alike any other lovable sister, dying to meet her brother’s lady love. She began to insist on meeting this girl, but he refused and said Raghav, “You have to wait for the right time my little angel”. Ritu was a teenager and an impatient girl. She was truly concerned for her brother. It was her love for Raghav which was not letting her wait for the right time. Her day starts with the question, “Who’s that girl bro, I want to meet her” and ends with the dialogue, “I won’t talk to you ever”.
Raghav was understanding Ritu’s curiosity, but what he could have done. While on the other hand, Ritu was upset. Raghav, who has never said no to her is now ignoring her and was busy with his lady. Initially, Ritu was happy about Raghav, but every time she asked about her, he refused to talk. Such behavior of Raghav was disturbing her.
“I want to meet her. Why you are not allowing me to meet her, see her or talk to her.” Ritu wasn’t mature enough to understand Raghav’s feelings. She was only focused towards her emotions.
“Ritu, where are you my darling sister”, Raghav was calling her. Today, Raghav was so excited.
She was calling Ritu loudly, “Come dear; see who has come with me. You will be happy to see her”. “Her?” Ritu wondered hearing this word. “Oh, she must be her. Finally, bro has taken her to meet me. I'm coming bro, I'm coming.” Ritu replied enthusiastically.
“Where is she?” asked Ritu. “Right in front of you dear.” Replied Raghav.
“Where? There is no one here.” Said Ritu.
Raghav was smiling; he was expecting the same reaction from Ritu. He asked her to see again if she can find out someone or something. “No, there is no one here. Just a vase which has shriveled flowers, a candle holder with its one end is broken, and a painting which is also covered and amidst of these things, you with some dirt in eyes. There is no one and nothing else to see.” Replied Ritu angrily and Raghav’s smile was irritating her more.
Raghav smiled and said, “You have created your own image of that girl, that is why; you are not able to see her. The shriveled flowers and broken candle holder were always the part of this hall. Don’t you think this covered painting is the new guest here?”
Ritu was shocked. “A painting!”
“Yes dear, a painting,” Raghav replied and unveiled it. This is the painting of the lady which Raghav described to Ritu.
Ritu looking at Raghav shockingly and asked him, “Is she your lady-love bro? I thought you are talking about a living girl. I never expected you were describing your imagination and not an alive person. How can you be in such deep love with a painting?”
For Ritu, it was just a painting, but for Raghav it was his imagination he has given a face to. This was the painting of Raghav’s imagination that he wanted in his life not in the form of a body but as a soul which will be there forever and ever. It took some time to Ritu to understand this weird philosophy on love, but when she understood she realized, Love has no definition. The body dies, but the soul remains and through his painting, Raghav has also immortalized his love. Now, Ritu knew what this painting meant to Raghav. She was a proud sister then.
Ritu was emotional. Her eyes were moist, but they had a glimpse of happiness. She said,
“People do not even care of living humans and you brother; have made this picture immortal by your selfless love. I venerate you and your true love for your LOVE.”
