"I´m never going back to that place", Marina told her mom after that terrible first day of school. There was no way such a terrible could become a little less painful.
"Of course you are going to return to school. Tomorrow, you will see that having a bad day, doesn't
mean having a bad school year"
"If you say so...", Martina shrugged.
And against all odds, her mom was right. The next day, the young girl found a new friend in Rose, a girl that was in the same Chemistry class as her. Rose was a pettie brunette, always willing to listen to anybody in need of having a good talk. Maybe she was a lot less talkative than Laura, but such a thing wasn´t a problem. A friend is a friend, and one should be always thankful for having one.
Yes, Marina still spent long hours talking and laughing with Laura on the phone, telling her about the struggles of dealing with a new school without her. Yet, having a new best friend made her heart feel way lighter. Martina was sure that from that day on, her high school experience would be a little less painful and a little bit more filled with new experiences. Time would prove her right.
