"Draco Sol"

Long ago, when the Earth was fairly new it was cursed with an eternal darkness. A young dragon was scared of the lightless space that consumed the world. In fear and desperation, he drew air in deeply to reach far within himself so his hottest fires could be breathed at the sky. In an explosive instant, bright, powerful embers shot upwards, toward the heavens. Glittering beauty lit the universe greatly; illumination had finally touched the world's surface. Over time, as the sky stayed aflame, Earth slowly started to become a star itself from the intense heat. The dragon was much older by this time, and felt terrible. He raced to the scorched heavens to undo this blazing accident. Once close enough to feel the boiling heat melt scales, his wings opened wider than ever, and then clapped to send an ending gust. The cooling winds waved through the sky and healed it from the simmering wounds. Blinding embers crystallized into the gentle flickering stars that we watch ever so harmlessly each night. The dragon has not been seen since...or thanked. Some believe he ascended into the cosmos to join his glimmers as the Sun, to shine as a beacon of hope.
