DISAPPOINTMENT

by hanachan
There was a lot of celebration at my success as I belonged to a wealthy family of the town.At the sound of the trumpets, guitars and pianos everyone was dancing. My father made a speech at which music stopped. He said that he was proud to have a son like me as I had shown a great result in the final examination and would be going abroad for higher studies on scholarship. He ended the speech by thanking me for making him proud and asked everyone else to carry on the celebrations.Everyone had cheerful smiles upon his or her face, except me.I could not see everyone celebrating at a mere lie,and so,I left the party early and went to bed.

When I woke up in the morning, immediately after that,I heard knocking at my door at which I allowed that person to enter my room.It was my father. He asked me why I had left the party early before the food had been served to which replied that I was not feeling well (another lie).My father did feel that something was fishy but he left anyway.

Being disappointed,I had to tell my family,my secret of success.I could not keep secrets from them and so,I decided that I would tell my family everything at breakfast. When I got ready,I went to the dinning table and sat next to my mother, who was taking her breakfast.I waited until my father and mother finished eating their breakfast after which I said very reluctantly that I wanted to say something. My dad moved his eyes away from the newspaper that he was reading and set his eyes upon me.The same did my mother.I said that my success is not due to my hard-work.Both my mother and father looked very surprised. I said further that I had actually bribed the invigilator to let me cheat my class-fellow's work.My dad stood furiously away from the chair and left for his office while my mother seemed quite sad.that was the reaction which I was expecting from them.I apologized to both of them.My father said that my secret would always remain a secret as it was hard to bear it all but they were surely disappointed of me.

Indeed it was tough to tell my parents something which was definite to let them down but at least this act of mine alleviated the feeling of disappointment I had been feeling inside me.
