DARK TEMPTATION Part 3

I didn’t want to think about him again, so I decided to leave silently. I took the plane to Los Angeles at exactly 6 o’clock and by 7:30 I was already at the company. I met my friend, Mia who embraced me in a big hug.
“Oh! Bella! Welcome back! I had missed you.” She said as we let go of each other.
“I missed you too Mia. I’m glad I’m back at work.”
“It was terrible all this two weeks without you around.” Mia sounded like she was about to cry.
“I know, I know! Don’t worry I’m here now, okay?” I said hugging her again.
“You don’t really sound happy Bella. Something is wrong right? Tell me.”
“There is nothing wrong…’’ I turned away from her gaze.
“Please friends don’t hide their feelings and secrets to each other.”
“You won’t believe what I’m about to tell you Mia. It’s very depressing especially to you…I don’t think you would want that to happen…” I began.
“What happened Bella?”
“I broke up with…”
“With Jordan?” Mia interrupted and I nodded. “But why? Bella that guy loved you. I just don’t understand what you are saying. God! Bella? Were you in your right senses?”
“It’s already too late Mia and to make matters worse I did something very awful.”
“What did you do?”
“I met this guy, his name is Kane. I can’t deny that both of us were attracted to each other Mia. He ended up driving me to the airport because Jordan couldn’t. He was drunk. It’s all his fault that I did what I did. I slept with Kane at a hotel near the airport and Jordan found me in bed with him.”
“Oh my God! Bella! That’s really awful. What did you do?”
“I don’t regret what I did Mia?’’
“Which means…?” I looked at Mia blank. “You’ve already fallen in love with this Kane?”
“No Mia. Don’t get me wrong. It was just attraction at first sight. Believe me I had no intentions of sleeping with him but the temptation was strong. I couldn’t resist him. He is damn handsome and he seemed nice to me. Although…”
“Although…?” Mia asked.
“He is kind of weird. I have a feeling….. this feeling… I just don’t know.” I shrugged. “When we were making love he made some growls and his eyes turned from brown to turquoisie. I don’t know Mia, maybe I was just imagining things and he also kept talking of being mates like in the animal kingdom.”
“Mm he really sounds weird. You said turquoisie eyes?” I nodded. “Like what happens in movies.”
“In movies?” I asked.
“Yes in movies Bella but they just can’t be that real.”
“Who are ‘they’ Mia?”
“Bella I’m talking about werewolves here. They change their eyes’ color. Maybe he is one of them.”
“No! It can’t be Mia. I don’t believe that.”
“Okay girl let’s just say you were imagining things.”
“Yeah, I must have imagined it.” I told her not even believing myself. He just can’t be a werewolf. That was too wrong and only happened in movies, I assured myself.
2 WEEKS LATER.
I was alone at my apartment near Sanchez O company. I had started feeling weak the last two days and I couldn’t eat. I didn’t know what was happening with me. I had also discovered that I missed Kane like hell. The past days I spent my time recalling that moment he made love to me in the hotel room. The thoughts had become unbearable and I couldn’t take it anymore but there was nothing I could do. I knew Kane had said he lived in California but to go there was just another crazy thought. What if he did not want me? What was I going to do next? Leave in humiliation? No! I had to be strong. It was just a one night stand to be forgotten forever. I listened to my cracking head and the nausea which was coming after. I had to go to the hospital, I told myself. I showered and wore a simple plain t-shirt with some faded jeans. I tied my hair in a high ponytail took my bag and started to leave my apartment. Just as I opened the door something made me to back away inside the house a few steps. I couldn’t believe my eyes. I closed them and opened again only to find myself looking directly into Kane Williams’ brown eyes. I looked at him up and down in disbelief.
“Kane? What are you doing here?’’
“Can I come inside Bella? We have to talk.” We had to talk about what? I asked myself. Let me just listen to what he was about to say.
“Sure!” I told him. “But please make it fast, I was just leaving to go somewhere.”
I opened the door and he entered. I showed him a chair in my dining which he sat in comfortably and I sat opposite him.
“I missed you.” He began.
“I missed you too.” I admitted. “How did you find me?” I asked him.
“I arrived in Los Angeles this morning from California after driving here.’’
‘’You drove up…?’’
“When I woke up in the hotel room and saw you were gone I rushed to the airport. The plane was just taking off. I went back to California thinking I would forget about you but I couldn’t. I just missed you and I drove up here these last four days.”
“Drove up? Why didn’t you just take a flight?’’
“I can’t fly…”
“You spend four days driving? But why?”
“Bella,” he took in a long deep breath as if he were about to announce something important. “We’re mates.’’
“What does that mean Kane? What we had is called a one night stand. We had sex and that’s all. I don’t know what you are talking about.’’
‘’With you Bella, it was different. I tried to hold myself back but the way we connected, and how you opened yourself up to me? I couldn’t hold myself back from completely being with you.’’ He said looking somewhat seriously at me.
He held my hands and I sighed deeply.
“Bella, you are carrying my child.’’ He told me.
“I’m not!’’ I said firmly.
“You are pregnant.” He tried to assure me and I burst out laughing pulling my hands back. He had to be mad or something. What he was saying was way too wrong.
“Kane, tell me how do you know this? Just tell me you are drunk or something. I was on the pill Kane. You just sound mad claiming me as your mate and that I’m carrying your child.”
“It doesn’t happen with my kind Bella. My kind doesn’t work with pills to prevent females from falling pregnant. I could pull out but the way we connected showed me we were meant to be.’’
“What do you mean ‘your’ kind?”
“Bella I have to tell you something.” He began.
“What…?”
“I know you may not believe me but that’s who I am and how I was born. I was born a Lycan werewolf Bella.”
“What did you just say?’’ I couldn’t believe my ears. “You got to be kidding Kane.”
“I just told you who I am.’’
I burst out laughing again. “What you say doesn’t make sense Kane. Wolves are not real and they don’t exist on earth. That’s stuff from movies.’’ Kane sighed and only shook his head. To make matters worse, he started to take off his shirt as he kicked off his boots. He is undressing in my living area? Why, is he going to force himself on me?
‘’What the hell are you doing?’’ I yelled. “I’m calling the police.” I turned away to dial 911 but it didn’t work. My hands were shaking so badly that I kept hitting the 2 instead.
“911 what’s the emergency?’’ a female voice greeted. Suddenly the line went dead when a clawed man’s hand hit the ‘end call’ function on my electric phone. I screamed and dropped the handset, leaping backwards in fright. It was a large man’s hand and unnaturally long, with sharp nails connected to an impossibly large muscled torso. His muscle bulk was huge. Then my eyes moved past the bulky neck to the human head whose mouth had sharp elongated teeth jutting past his lips. His ears had grown longer and his eyes were glowing turquoisie as I swing down to see the monster standing in my dining in just his jeans. His nails on his bare feet also looked long and sharp. Glowing turquoisie eyes? Then that means in the hotel room I wasn’t imagining things. I recalled how sharp his teeth had felt as I remembered all the growling noises he had made. Right now he was panting as he stood in the entrance way of my dining. Holy shit! I screwed a werewolf? I couldn’t believe I had sex with a werewolf. Now he was saying I’m his pregnant mate? My legs trembled as shock filled me. My breath became short and before I knew anything I had fainted. I don’t know how long I was out for but I felt I was lying somewhere soft and warm. I felt Kane’s coat and his smell remembering him as the monster in my room.
‘’You are very weak, Bella Coleridge. When I was in California I could feel your heartbeat and I also felt you were not feeling well.”
“Please Kane, call the ambulance for me.’’
‘’I can give you something.” He said calmly. “You have to trust me Bella.” I stared at him, with weak eyes. I looked at his nails which had started to turn longer cutting his flesh and a gush of blood came out.
“You have to drink this. It will make you strong.’’ I was shocked to be fed blood.
“Nooo …’’ I said rolling my head away. “Please don’t Kane…’’
“Bella, my blood won’t turn you into a werewolf. Just drink and you will feel stronger.’’ I looked at him and believed him. I closed her mouth on his arm and drank, gulping at it’s warmness. The blood did not taste bad after all. After a while of mouthfuls I pulled away.
“Come on Bella. Some couple of more mouthfuls and it will be okay.”
I believed him and started to drink again. Afterwards I felt stronger and my heartbeat became normal as I looked at his wound which had already healed, a faint pink line only left. I looked into Kane’s brown eyes and his normal human form. Just the look of his moist lips turned me on. I couldn’t believe I wanted him after all what had happened. I felt that I was no longer afraid of him as I pulled his head and kissed him hungrily. Kane responded eagerly and took the lead. Within some seconds I was already naked as I watched my torn clothes which Kane had discarded from my body. I didn’t care. All I wanted that time was Kane. We made love fast and wild and I couldn’t believe I was also turning into an animal. The bed squealed under our weight and to me, it didn’t matter that time. Afterwards we lay together, panting, our breaths hot against each other.
“I love you, Bella.” Kane whispered.
“I love you too, Kane.” I whispered back.
