Baaba: Chapter 9

by safohen
It spun in midair and swung the other foot at Kuukua but she blocked the blow with her machetes. However the force behind the blow was too great and she was sent flying back. She thrust her spear into the ground, halting her flight. She noticed the large claw marks that were engraved on her machetes and as soon as her feet touched the ground, she let off three arrows at the kakai.

The kakai slashed two of the arrows in midair but the third arrow hit it in the knee. It let off five steel needles at Kuukua which she attempted to block by twirling her spear. The needles tore through her spear and struck her in the side! She stumbled backwards, breathing heavily but still managed to doge a spear aimed at her head.

Kuukua stood up yet again, her breathing ragged. She let off five arrows at the kakai but these were thrown back at her as well as a serrated staff. She rolled to the side to dodge them, approached the kakai from the side and thrust the spear at its chest.

It caught it with its left hand, wrenched it from her grip and knocked her away with it. It drew back its arm to throw it at her but Kuukua was faster, as she flung her akofena at it, stabbing it in the chest.

Asabea and Efua dodged the kakai's subsequent attacks. With a vicious swing, it struck Asabea hard, sending her flying into the bushes.

Its blades glinted in the afternoon sun as they began to descend upon Efua who dodged them and slashed once, slicing off two of it's four arms. It stumbled backwards and Efua lunged at it with her machetes but it blocked this attack with its own ebony black machetes.

Suddenly a spearhead tore through its chest. It turned its head and gave Asabea, the wielder of the spear, a blank stare before it dropped its machetes and Efua slashed it in half.
