Baaba: Chapter 2

by safohen
'Prepare to engage’, Kuukua ordered. Armed to the teeth with bows and arrows, akofenas and afowatsenas(long swords with two or three blades on one hilt),spears and machetes, they rushed to a clearing where kakai had again gathered that night. Kuukua had ordered Baaba to work on the transdimensional devices at night but as the kakai charged at them, she hoped Baaba was making speedy progress.

At the asafo village, inside a large laboratory, Baaba slowly stepped back from a transparent glass container that gave off a red and blue glow as multicoloured liquids began to bubble rapidly. The container began to shake violently and then suddenly, it stopped. The glow receded and only a light pale blue liquid was left in the case.

'I've done it!' Baaba yelled, her fists pumping the air in triumph.

'Done what?" asked Kuukua.

Baaba spun around. 'Created a new element. One that will power the device that will teleport us to the kakai dimension and seal off their dimension from ours permanently.

'You see, the akofenas we used yesterday only temporarily seal off certain areas, three or four days at most. But with this element, it will be more permanent. The sealing akofenas I'll make will be permanently fused to this world and the kakai dimension, making it impossible to remove.

'Like Anokye's sword?"

'Exactly. This element will also keep the transdimensional device running long after we're dead, ensuring that the kakai dimension stays sealed off. Even if the exterior gets damaged, it will still keep running. The akofena we will use in the kakai dimension will have the same effect, just in case the first device gets damaged'

'Why not simply use the first device to seal off both worlds now?'

'The two devices need to be operational at the same time, one here and the other in the kakai world. This will generate a transdimensional barrier that will eventually fix the Ring, restoring the gap between our dimension and that of the kakai permanently'

'If this works, the Ring will be restored?'

'Yes. Permanently. Compared to this , actually building the transdimensional devices will be easy. I'll start doing that first thing tomorrow morning'
