Akyeaa: Chapter 15

by safohen
Three days after Ekuaba stabbed Akyeaa, she neared the old warpriest village built on a hill. Eight caves lay directly at the base of the hill. She stopped at the entrance of each one, checking to see which one was the warmest. That would be the one with the mystic white flame.

Once she found it, she heaved a sigh of relief and stepped in. It was dark and hot but she was not concerned. Her night vision was above average. Bimm had designed her well. She paused after one hour and sighed. Gathered around the white flame, that burned brightly in the dark, were one thousand Sakraman dinn.

They quietly stood up from where they lay, bared their fangs and without further warning, attacked. They fought valiantly, like true guardians of a power that might end the world. But Ekuaba was designed as a harbinger of destruction. Ten minutes later, they littered the cave floor, watching helplessly as she walked towards the flame.

Suddenly, a firm hand clamped on her shoulder, cracking it and flung her out of the cave onto the dirt of the ground outside. She rose shakily to her feet and stared as Akyeaa walked out of the cave. Without warning, she leaped at Ekuaba, her left fist swinging towards her, breaking her jaw.

The punch sent her flying backwards into the dirt again. Akyeaa was suddenly upon her, her knees digging into her belly. Her fists pummeled Ekuaba into the dirt, the impact displacing sand and rock. For one hour, the barrage of blows continued, each one sending them deeper and deeper into the dirt. When they were six feet down, Akyeaa gripped both hands together to finish her off.

Suddenly she heard a faint cracking sound and stared as Ekuaba's body slowly became wooden, from the crown of her head to the sole of her feet. She exhaled deeply and then remembering what Efa had said about Bimm's essence being in Ekuaba 's body, ripped off her left hand. She would use it to track down Bimm later.

She climbed out of the six feet hole and in one hour, had covered it up. She then sensed the Sakraman dinn behind her. She spun round to defend herself but there was no need. Each one carried a piece of the flame in it's mouth and they quietly filed past her before heading into the bushes. The flame would need to be kept in a different hiding place.
