A glass of Milk, paid in Full

John belonged to a very poor family and he was the only one son of his family. He fed his family selling the goods door to door. One day, john was selling his goods, found he had only one thin dime left, and he was hungry. He decided to ask for a meal at the next house. So he knocked the door in fear.

A women opened the door upon the very first knock. John got nervous and he asked for a glass of water instead meal. She thought he looked hungry so brought him a large glass of milk. He drank it slowly, and then asked, “How much should I owe you?” “You don’t owe me anything,” she replied. “Mother has taught us never to accept pay for a kindness.” so john thanked the women and went away.

Some years later that women got seriously ill and she was advised to diagnose to a specialist. All the hopes of her survival were disappeared. Finally, she was sent to a most famous Dr. of that time. He tried his best to rescue her.

After a long struggle, the battle was won. Dr. john requested the business office to pass the final bill to him for approval. He looked at it, then wrote something on the edge and the bill was sent to her room.

She feared to open it, because she was sure it would take the rest of her life to pay for it all. Finally she looked, and something caught her attention on the side of the bill. She started crying reading the following words:

“Paid in full with one glass of milk.

Signed, Dr. John”
