Why'd you do it?

by galaxypotato
My mom, my father and I loved each other so much. Even if we argue sometimes, we are always a happy family. Until one night at my sixth birthday. My mom suddenly came into my room with a gun in her hand. I didn't ask any questions when she told me to follow her out the window, but then someone shouted at us to stop. I didn't know want to do. I mean, what can an six year old girl do in this situation.

"D-Don't you dare even come near us!" My mom stuttered in fear before I noticed blood flowing down her temples. She sometimes had bruises and she still has scars from it, but she would just tell me that she fell or burnt herself while she ironed. When I noticed that the person was my own father with a broken glass in his hand while he smiled at us. It was not a heart warning smile. It was scary and I have never seen him look at us that way. Tears began to flow down my red chubby cheeks. I gripped mom tighter and I couldn't even talk. He started walking slowly towards us, until mom whispered to me to cover my ears with a smile. And so I did. Mom lifted her arm with the gun in her grasp, before she pulled the trigger. Dad fell down on his knees with blood slowly spreading on his chest. I gritted my teeth and I started to sob. I didn't understand what was happening, until I grew older.

Today was my eighteen birthday and we never celebrated birthdays anymore. My mom and I always pretend as if it was just another normal day. But since I'm eighteen, I'm going to his funeral. I rode off with my truck that mom gave me last year and drove to the same dark place where people cry. Where people bring flowers and basically a place where people wouldn't go when they hate someone. They would go there only when their loved ones are gone. But not me.

I placed a cigar in between my lips before i lit it. I just exhaled ones and dropped it on his grave before i stepped on it.

"Why did you even do it?" I whispered under my breath.

"We were so happy... At least that was what I thought." A sudden hand grabbed my shoulder, causing me to jump away.

"Wow- umm.. sorry there. I was just wondering if you knew that this is actually a graveyard where loved ones are basically underground. It's not a place for smoking." The brunette teen told me with his arms up.

"Ooo.. really? Sorry, I thought that this was just a park with written stones everywhere." I told him sarcastically with a blank face.

"Well, now you know it's not." He smiled politely before he bent down to get the cigar that I threw.

"What are you doing." I looked at him with a slight glare.

"Like I said this is a-"

"It's a gift from me to my father. So you better just leave it alone." I smiled, took the cigar and placed it back before I walked pass him.

I could hear footsteps following behind me. "Umm.. Sorry about that. I guess I just had a misunderstanding. What if I buy you coffee or something?"

"No thanks." I kept on walking.

"Okay.. That's alright, you're a tea person then. I can-"

"Stop talking to me and just leave me alone." I halted, earning him to stop in front of me. He was basically an inch away from me. I could see his tanned skin clearer. He had a nice messy brown hair that perfectly goes with his blue-green eyes. He looks like someone who works out and he seems a bit taller than me, so I had to kind of look up at him. I kept on glaring at him, but he just smirked. I looked at him in a confused way, before I stormed off again.

"Then would just staring at me be a satisfaction to you. Cause I think that you liked what you just saw a while ago."

I rolled my eyes, but I just kept on walking. I jumped in my trunk before I looked it. The guy suddenly vanished. I looked around without moving my neck and didn't find any sign of him. I shrugged it off and started the engine until a sudden loud heavy metal rock music was jamming near the car. I looked behind me and saw the guy dancing with the music while he closed his eyes. I slightly smiled at how weird he danced, but I went back to my bitter self. I opened the car door and walked out.

"WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!" I shouted so he could hear me through the loud music.

"TRYING TO CONVINCE A PRETTY GIRL TO GO GET A DRINK WITH ME!" He replied before he closed shut his eyes and started to jump around the trunk.

"WELL IT'S NOT WORKING!" I shouted, but he seems to be pretending to not hear me. I guess I had no choice. I sigh at defeat.

"Fine. I'll go, but you have to leave me alone now." I didn't even shouted that one, but he heard me. He smiled at me and jumped off the car. "So it wasn't working huh?" he smirked.
