Thoughts on the passage of time, holidays and celebrations.
Halloween is now nearly as big an occasion as Christmas.
They seem to be more or less overlapping. I believe the shops bring Halloween
forward for marketing purposes, almost as a dry-run for Christmas: marketing is
key.
I’ve also noticed people buying Christmas items in the
January sales, in preparation for the next Christmas!
Of course, children are not aware of how time flies,
especially Santa believers!
I remember the year I stopped believing in Santa. My
sister and I came back from a party on Christmas Eve. I woke up in the early
hours of Christmas morning, to the rustling of gifts filling my Christmas
stocking. It was my dad in a huge, red Santa costume! Despite this revelation,
the Christmas spirit emerged intact, what with the neighbours coming around in
the morning, merry sounds of clinking glasses and the presentation of the
gifts. I believe Christmas brings with it great charm and atmosphere which
still enchants and spellbinds people of all ages.
My strong belief is that when one wants time to pass
quickly, it will pass slowly. One must forget time in order to let it pass
quickly. An age seems to pass when you’re waiting for a bus!
Roll on all the yearly celebrations!
I have never been much of an Easter person (perhaps one
or two crème eggs) yet some people take Easter a lot further in the traditional
sense i.e. eating roast chicken and rolling painted eggs down hills.
Roll on Notting Hill Carnival!
A family dispute involving alcohol and its influence over children.
A family upset resulting in a crisis.
A Hell's Angels tragedy set in Notting Hill
A Halloween themed tale of wizards and witches.
