The Sky

by Dhaye

You were the sky, I was the earth
Where stars cannot be touched
When the sea was not a thin line
As the sun and moon were like fancy gems

You were the heaven I dreamed to reach
When I was the dry, barren soil that cried
Asking for the dewdrops to fall
Like a shooting star coming from you

I was the earth you did not see
While your tears of joy fell down
I was the one who celebrated
For the bits of miracle I received

Dark sky you were to me
But I have learnt to feel more clouds
Found out why the sun needs to hide
When your tears appeared as miracles

And now do you comprehend
That you are the sky over me
I am the earth that carries all
The heavy loads you cannot keep

You're not the sky without me
I'm not the earth without you
The sea now is a thread between us
You just have to look down

I am the earth, I always will
I have to find my peace here
I need you even at your dark times
And you need me to be a bright sky

Wash me when you cry
Wipe me when you're with the sun
I won't refute, I understand
That I am the earth and you are my sky.
