The Extraordinary Adventures of TinkerBell

The Extraordinary Adventures of Tinker bell

Tinker bell lay on the side of the road, looking up at the cold night sky, she wrapped her tail around her shivering body as her black outline echoed the winter sky. Dreaming of her perfect life, a flash of light in the near distance roused Tinker bell from her dreams.

Not so far away lay a little girl snuggled up as a bug in a rug, squeezing her eyes tight shut, the thought running through her mind, if I open my eyes and see him it will be ruined, to distract herself she kept thinking quietly, I have to go to sleep.

Before long a glimmer of light shone through the blanket of grey and bouncing out of bed with a spring in her step Bethaney ran into mum’s room shouting “ Has Santa been, its Christmas wake up everyone” Mum stretched one arm out of bed, bleary eyed trying to focus on the alarm clock in her hand. “Uh” she muttered to herself, six thirty am but with a smile on her face she replied “Merry Christmas” and with that arm in arm they traipsed down the stairs.

In the living room under the tree were presents stacked high like a mountain, Bethaney ploughed her way through, squealing and exclaiming in delight with sounds of wow and awe occasionally being spoken. By this time mum had moved into the kitchen preparing Christmas dinner for them and the rest of the family for when they arrived.

With a shudder and a meow Tinker bell roused herself from a cold and uncomfortable sleep, stretching trying to inject some warmth into her frozen stiff joints, sniffing in the air the delicious waft of food cooking. With her nose following the scent Tinker bell walked along the path, looking sadly into the houses she passed as families sat gathered in their toasty festively decorated living rooms, children squealing excitedly at their presents, Maybe next year it will be different she continued on her way, until a few minutes later a little girl caught her eye dancing madly round the room, Tinker bell inched and crept cautiously towards the windowsill to get a better view,
The house looked so warm and cosy and happy but most of the little girl looked ideal to be her owner, she was fun after all. Tiptoeing silently her paws touching the ground for a second, she moved round to the back door, creeping as stealthily as she should so as not to be seen, waiting for the right opportunity Tinker bell shot straight in and wrapped herself round Bethany’s leg. Bethaney looked down and shouted to mum “look what Santa brought me “ Mum looked through the doorway in surprise by now Tinker bell and Bethaney were both dancing madly, Bethaney singing along with the odd purr from Tinker bell.

Looking out of the window Mum could see that a thin blanket of snow had covered the ground, that is no type of weather for anyone to be in, Sighing to herself she prepared herself to convince Bethaney that the cat could stay for the day but that she would have to be returned to her correct owners the next day.

In all the excitement of coming downstairs Bethaney had forgotten about her mums present that she had left under her tree. With Tinker bell at her heels off they trotted. After a while mum had realised they had still not come down and went to investigate what had distracted them.
Walking into her room, she saw a huge cardboard box with an envelope attached to it.
Opening the letter Bethaney read out loud.
“Dear Bethaney,

I hear you have been a very good girl this year, I hoped you enjoyed the presents I left under the tree for you. However this year I have been keeping an eye on a lovely black kitten eyes as green as emeralds in the hope of finding a little girl or boy to become her best friend. After watching how kind you have been all year I think Tinker bell would be a perfect fit for you. In the box you will find a bed and everything you could possibly need to look after her, all she needs now is a friend, Can you be that friend?, I think you can
Lots of love

Santa

Xxx

“Wow “said Bethaney “please can I keep her” with a smile on her face mum replied “of course you can” I mean after all how could she argue with Santa.

Bethaney and Tinker bell lay tucked up in bed, both of their heads resting on the pillow, Tinker Bell purring contentedly. Thinking back to last night they were both remembering the flash of light and wishing for a new best friend, there was something magical in the air that night nobody would believe them if they told their story so they made a pact to keep it their secret, strengthening the bond they already had, drifting happily off to sleep.

From that day forth Tinker Bell and Bethaney were inseparable, they grew up together getting into the odd scrape here and there but nothing to serious. There would come a time when they would embark on their own journeys but for now it was the two of them.

Many Christmases had come and gone and before long Bethaney had grown into a young lady and now there was one more Christmas to celebrate before heading to university that summer to train as a vet. Tinker bell had aged gracefully and now her coat had become tinged with grey. Bethaney loved Christmas but this year was sad as she knew she couldn’t take Tinker Bell away with her.

Christmas Eve arrived and as usual Bethaney and Tinker Bell prepared for bed, lying as per usual with their heads on the pillow both nostalgically thinking of past adventures and how much fun they had. Bethaney couldn’t help being excited but it was such a big change but one she was determined to enjoy. For Tinker Bell all she wanted to do was to curl up and sleep, she was too old for adventures now but was more than happy for Bethaney to have fun for them both.

The next night Bethaney sat on her windowsill looking out for the brightest star in the sky, she knew this day would come but even still if given the choice she would have chosen more time. Glancing down at the letter in her hand she spoke her response
“My Dear Tinker bell,

The day you ran into my living room it had been the coldest winter ever, Santa had given me the best present, you fitted into the palm of my hand and when we snuggled in bed all I could see were your bright green eyes looking at me with love, From that very night we were inseparable and we went and did everything together. What you didn’t know was that deep in my heart my Christmases were about to change, my parents had filed for divorce and even though I knew it was not my fault, we were all sad, you brought a smile to my face, I had a new companion, someone I could share all my secrets with, you became more than a companion, you became my best friend, we learnt to survive the good and the bad,
Now life has definitely changed, with our memories together we embark on separate paths, you will never be forgotten and will always have a piece of my heart.

Each night I will say good night to you as the brightest star as you start your journey up in the sky.

Love always

Bethaney.
