Voluntary retirement from Service

Voluntary Retirement from Service. it was done. i had retired.anticlimax? 30 years of service. it seemed like yesterday that i had joined . all the good work done, unappreciated most of the time.memories flashed into my mind . working late hours for what ? now i was free and that freedom was unsettling.or was it exhilarating. banking was dull work .and yet now and then there was some happiness at achieving some thing.ambitions unfulfilled at least as far as i was concerned. but was i ever happy and contented throughout. the truthful answer was no ,not really. the memories of name being spoilt, being made the scapegoat for others mistakes. the political machinations of others. would sincerity, honesty and passion for work ever be rewarded. ships that pass in the night.Sometimes you do things out of anger, sadness, disappointment . Sometimes you are clinical and detached with planning . Sometimes it is a mixture of both. Which works best is up to you. Memories crowd into my mind .some are happy ,some are sad. There is a lot of pent up emotion inside one which makes you do certain things at certain times.

My final day in Service

This morning 31.10.2014 , I went to my office . As per my request for Voluntary Retirement from Service  or VRS in short, Today was my last day in service. I attended office. My substitute had already arrived some days back. We had regular debates about my Voluntary Retirement from Service and the reasons for it . We shook hands. The official orders had not come yet. We confirmed over Phone and Email. I was relieved After Office Hours or AOH  at 06.30 PM. The staff wished to arrange a Formal Relieving Cum Retirement Party . I would have none of it . The cost would have to come out of their pockets. There were only Two regular Permanent Staff - the Manager and Clerk . There was also the Jewel Appraiser and the Daily Wager . I had always avoided giving any hardship to any of my colleagues . I was not going to start now .  Evening came quickly ,there were only two bikes .the branch is situated about 3 kms from the bus stand. So I asked the Manager and Clerk to leave first with the Appraiser and Daily wager .Then I started walking to the Bus stand . After 10 Minutes the daily wager came back on his bike and gave me a lift to the bus stand . All the way , he was very kind . at the bus stand ,the Appraiser was waiting . Both of them wished me well and saw me off on the bus .
