This is the story of two women, Lillian and Mary. They are in the same age, same neighbor and studying in the same school, and classmates. When they are children, they are opposite in many things. Lillian is intelligent, studios and serious in her studies. She receives many awards and recognition because of her effort. She is the most outstanding in their class. While Mary on the other hand, loves to play with her dolls and her toys. Unlike Lillian, Mary is a kind of person who loves to play and doing pleasure things. If she has new toys or dolls, she proudly shows it to other kids in school or in their neighborhood. Mary always invites Lillian to play with her, but Lillian always turned down Mary, because for Lillian, playing dolls is only a waste of times. She prefers studying and does her homework’s. At that Mary doesn’t like Lillian. She hates and always resents her. In school and in their neighborhood, they sometimes have a fight, but only verbal. Time pass, they considered each other as mortal enemies. At their graduation day, when Lillian was doing valedictory speech, Mary laughs at her in silence. Lillian notices this. Mary also whispers to her other classmates and they are also giggling at Lillian. After the graduation, Lillian confronts Mary for insulting and disrespecting her valedictory speech. Good thing some of their classmates see them fight verbally and they stand in their middle when it seems they start pulling each other’s hairs.
Both girls now are in college. Lillian is taking up medicines. She wants to become a doctor and succeed. While Mary, only counts boyfriends during college. She also loves to gimmick and partying with her friends, and at that, neglects her studies. One day, Mary becomes pregnant. Her boyfriend, the father of her child, won’t offer any responsibilities. Mary is crushed. Her boyfriend doesn’t show up to her after she told him that she is pregnant. The last thing she knows is that the guy move out to other countries to continue his studies. To cover her disgrace and shame, Mary decided to transfer either in some faraway place, away to start a new life.
At the present, at age 34, Mary is a single mom and she is managing a canteen that is near the school, and her son, whom he named Wesley, is now 8 years old, and he is in elementary level. Mary somehow lives a normal life, even if he doesn’t have husband. Her canteen is doing well also. But one day, there is another canteen that is standing near her place. She will have a rival canteen in that place. To her dismay, the owner of the said canteen was no other than Lillian, her mortal enemy. Mary was furious. She can’t believe for how many years their paths have crossed again. Mary also found out that Lillian, like her, is still single, and has no children. Mary laughs and mocks Lillian’s fate. She is thankful that even if she is single, at least she has one child. And as always, wherever places they meet, in church, in market, or even in the road, or even sharing the same area with their respective canteens, they avoid talking each other.
One day, a certain young man named Reagan, come into their lives. He is a teacher in that school, and a regular customer in Lillian and Mary’s canteens. The women both fell in love with the guy. They will do everything to get the guy’s attention. But it seems Lillian has a higher edge compared to Mary. Lillian is still sexy, at a mature age, while Mary looks matronly. Mary decided to do exercise like jogging and aerobics to have a sexy figure like Lillian. Her son was only amused at her. She always told Wesley that he will soon have a father. Mary’s effort somehow seems working, for she and Reagan are now getting along well. One day, it is Reagan birthday, and both girls are invited, without knowing it. Reagan doesn’t have a slightest idea that Lillian and Mary are not getting along well. As usual, when Mary and Lillian see each other at Reagan’s apartment, they fight, to the point they each hit one another. Reagan stands in their middle and tries to stop them. When their fight subsides, they let Reagan choose which either of them he likes or loves the most. To women’s dismay, Reagan confessed to them that he is already married and have children. Mary and Lillian from that moment on don’t want to see Reagan. They started to hate him.
Days gone by, each girls, moved on continue their everyday lives, but Lillian and Mary’s are still not talking to each other. One day, as usual, Mary was doing her routine every morning by jogging in the park. Lillian is also there, jogging. Their eyes have met. At first, they stand still, no talking, just staring at each other. Both Mary and Lillian don’t know what they are going to do at that moment. Lillian makes a first gesture by smiling to Mary, and Mary smiled back to Lillian. They shake their hands and hug each other. They started talking. For a long period of time, this is their first time to talk each other in a friendly manner. It seems to them, they realized they should be best friends than mortal enemies. Mary started to admire Lillian for being successful in everything. But Lillian admits to Mary she feel envious of her for having a child. She also told Mary that before, she used to have a many suitors and boyfriends. She is also supposed to be heading for the altar many times, but each discovered she is barren. Lillian laughs to herself when she remembers that every time she has a suitor, if she told him that she is barren, the guy doesn’t show up to her. To cover her disgrace with men, Lillian moved to faraway place, and it happens in that place, Mary was also there.
The beginning of a beautiful friendship started to blossom with these two women. Lillian is also fond of Mary’s son Wesley. But things seem not going well with Mary this pass few days. She found out she has a breast cancer. Lillian feels sorry for Mary, and starts to comfort her. Lillian is always on Mary’s side if she needs her or something, until the time comes for to Mary succumbed to the disease. Before she died, Mary told Lillian to take care of Wesley and adopt him as her child. Lillian has no second thoughts to the request of her friend.
Wesley now is under the guidance of Lillian. As adoptive mother, she is strict in regards with Wesley’s knowledge growth and she always tells Wesley to make studies his first priorities. She always told Wesley that education is more important than anything else, to which Wesley respond and follows.
