Homesick

by lino AK
I shall not move merrily
By the ridges of the Nile
For the journey is long and tiresome
But sooner or later,
I shall not be lonely.

The pen in my hand-
Hard with friction between
I shall write the songs of the land,
The land that i left
And shall rarely see again,
Sooner or later.

You colorless and fast flowing Nile!
Have you cursed me that
I shall never see my home?
That others go and return
While I dwell under a foreign sky.

Land,O my homeland,
I shall not write your songs
Under a foreign sky
No,I shall return home
Then sit peacefully and craft the odes.
Let others and the author know if you liked it

Liked it alot?

November 30, 2015 - 16:02 Hey lino AK, it is by change that I saw your poem today, It is very interesting to read, as I watched for a few weeks in a row, a program about - I think it was four/five men - from Sudan who was taken to America. They gave them place to stay and money for 3 months (sorry cant remember). It showed how their lives turned out. Last I saw one of them returned to Uganda. I think I missed a few episodes which is sad. I want to now how it turns out.... I will be following you....welcome
