Cleo screamed.
She wished with all her tiny terrified heart that what she was seeing is fake or delusional.
There was a huge black monster behind the woman named Adiona. It was about seven feet tall and seemed to be floating. What made it scarier was the color it had taken home in. It was the purest black she had ever seen. It looked like the dark night, without the stars.
She kept on screaming until she felt strong, warm hands cup her mouth and the door shut behind the intimidating woman standing so close to her now.
She opened her eyes and found herself staring into green ones. These orbs were not a normal shade of green. They weren't like the deepest green forests in the world you could find. No, it was way more than that. They looked like every possible beautiful shade of green in the world exemplified by sapphires and diamonds. Yes, if sapphires and diamonds were green, they were her eyes. It was unlike she had ever seen in her life.
Then, she felt something she had never felt before. She felt energy emanating from the body so close to hers. Never had she felt so much power, and with such quiet intensity. She suddenly felt drawn to her, as if an invisible magnetic force was pulling her towards this enigma of a woman. It beckoned to her, and she relented.
"Why did you scream?" the green-eyed beauty asked in a low voice. As smooth and as deadly as infected honey. She kept her hand on Cleo's mouth until she saw her eyes signify that she was calm enough to reply.
She withdrew her hand slowly, and Cleo took a shaky breath at the loss of heat before replying, "I saw a black monster behi-" the singer's eyes widened as they once again risked a look behind Adiona to look at the "monster".
It wasn't. It was wings.
They are magnificent, Cleo thought. So massive and tall their tips kissed the white ceiling. And that's just when they were pressed behind the dark-haired woman's back. Cleo couldn't imagine just how large they were when they were spread wide. The feathers seemed to shimmer in obsidian black and upon closer inspection, Cleo could see that the tips were slightly lined with gold. The gold-tipped individual feathers caught the light and shimmered when the owner stepped back.
Cleo had to tear her eyes away from the beautiful masterpiece in order to listen what Adiona was saying.
"You can see them?" The woman said and Cleo thought she detected an emotion of slight shock from the her voice.
"Of course I can see them," the Spanish brunette was having difficulty breathing and calming down was equally as hard when she was facing something out of a fairytale. "They're...stunning."
"She can see them," the green-eyed woman murmured to herself, looking down at a tattoo on her arm and a slight frown marred her perfect features. She turned her head to look back at Cleo, the full force of those impossible green orbs almost knocking the breath out of her.
Suddenly, she snapped into action. "Get dressed," she said and the amount of authority in her voice got the brunette doing exactly what she was told to do without question.
"We need to leave," the expulsive voice walked out the door and Cleo knew she had to follow. She didn't know why she did, but before she knew it her arms were reaching for clothes. Usually at this point she would be questioning this stranger and calling the police on her, but some force kept her mouth shut and had her limbs doing exactly as the woman commanded. She barely had enough time to put on a black band t-shirt and was still tugging on her jeans as they walked out.
"O-okay," she squeaked when she finally buttoned up her jeans. Why the fuck can't I say no? What's going on? That costume must be hella expensive if those wings look as life-like as that. She couldn't stop staring at those wings.
The dark-haired woman practically glided down the hallway of the hotel and into the pristine elevator. She wasn't using her wings in a way of flapping them, but it seemed as though she was using the air draft through her feathers to lighten her steps.
Cleo on the other hand, was huffing and stomp-walking across the plush carpet. She was a little out of breath by the time she joined the other one in the elevator, still in shock and confused at the sudden turn of events. She realized too late that she was barefoot.
"Why are we going to the roof?" she asked when Adiona pressed the button for the highest floor. "Who are you? Is that a costume? I swear to god if you did some sort of hypnosis shit that got me doing what I did without my thinking then you are going to pay for this!" The regal woman gave a soft sigh as the singer beside her rambled and internally prayed to God the elevator would go faster.
"What do you want? An autograph? A picture? You didn't have to hypnotize and kidnap me to get it!" Adriona's left wing rustled and Cleo gasped as she forced herself to stop. She was starting to think that wasn't a costume at all. She could feel the heat radiating off the dark-haired woman's giant wings. They even moved slightly, like how a finger would tick when the owner was annoyed.
"Why does it matter that I can see...that?" She tried to still her fast-beating heart. Those wings are actually real. So she's an angel? I thought they had white wings.
She watched Adiona's perfect jaw work, as if she was debating on telling her or not for a split second. In the process, Cleo got a bit distracted by how cute her ears' shape seemed to be. Shell-pink and adorable as hell. They were a big contrast to the rest of the otherwise tough and regal look. Cleo briefly wondered if her ear modeled in an ear magazine or something.
The tall beauty sighed and replied. Cleo snapped back into attention and horror at her next words.
"You're my mate."
