Why Did This Happen

by Vanessa
Why did this happen, why now? Not even an little warning from the government.. constantly we are hearing about financial crisis, murders, robbers, Ebola. This couldn't be the first, right? I guess I could have known because it was way to quiet outside. There had to be something wrong!

No birds tweeting, no iguana's running and there wasn't even a siren of a police car racing by (and believe me, that happens quite often here). The only sound were the dogs barking behind the house. My mom went outside to feed the big dogs in the kennel and the six little Chihuahua's we have indoors ran out on the porch with her.

Like every other day, my aunt will home for lunch at 12:30 p.m. My niece unlocked the gates and opened the door so she could come in. I stood at the door and waved to my aunt. That moment I saw the terrifying look on her face. My aunt made some hand movements to go back inside and be quite.  So I pulled my niece back in and locked the doors. Then I remembered my mom was still outside. Why was it all of a sudden so quiet outside... Why did the dogs stop barking? The big ones always bark when my mom takes the little ones next to their cages. My heart was going faster and faster! What was going on, and why did this happen?!

Finally my brother came out of his room.  Then my phone rang. It was my aunt calling from the car. "Where is your mom?" She whispered. I told her my mom went outside to feed the big dogs like  half an hour ago and has not returned yet. Then she told me the most cruel words; "They she must be dead, we cant save her, save yourself. Make sure nobody sees you move and be very quite!" I asked her how and why did this happen, but then the phone was disconnected. I looked at my aunt one more time and the last thing she did was press her hand against her mouth and pointed to something behind the house.

I tried to take control over this weird situation and instructed my brother to close all curtains and lock the doors. I slowly walked to the rear part of the house (there is a window there that looks on the dog kennel). I tried to look for my mom, but there was no one there. I started crying because my mom was probably dead, what happened to her, why is this happening. Did someone escape out of prison and killed her? Are we being robbed? Why did this happen to us, we're not even rich... My heart skipped a beat when I heard this scary loud growling sound. I looked to my left and there he was, a big (skinny) dead guy wearing ripped jeans and a green tank top covered with organs and fresh blood. He was banging against the door screen... Now its just a matter of time but that screen will break!
