The Tramp and the Storm

The Tramp and the Storm
a Poem
by Austin Mitchell
1
Lashing winds, pelting rains
Seeking shelter I ran
From more rains
As fast as I can, I ran
2
For the storm would be tonight
And I was a long way from home
No lights on this dark night
Oh what a sad time to be away from home
3
The birds chirped as they looked for shelter
The dogs, all the animals had found a safe hiding place
People were running helter skelter, looking for shelter
To survive I must win this race
4
I was running very fast
On and on I ran, for I knew it's best to run from a storm
Windows and doors banged as I ran past
For I could be harmed by this storm
5
Thunder rolled, lightning flashed
I quivered and shivered with every flash
Oh so afraid, oh so afraid to go on
But every flash spurred me on
6
Barking dogs urged me on
All the animals were urging me on
They all seemed to be saying, run on home,
But they did not know if I had a home
7
For here was I running from a storm
Coming from nowhere
Running to nowhere
For I was nothing but a tramp caught in a storm
Let others and the author know if you liked it

Liked it alot?
