The Masterpiece Collection: The Painting

by Lea Ebio

Jenny wakes up suddenly n the middle of the night; visions of words are still dancing eerily in her dreamy mind. She immediately rustle through her bag finding for something to write with. Henry was awakened by her sudden movements and sit up groggily on the other bed.
Finding what she was looking for, she scribbled the words or phrases out of her memory and it formed into intriguing and mysterious line.
"What is it Jenny?" Henry asked looking at her thru sleepy eyes.
Jenny turned up at him with a triumphant yet somehow bizzare smile holding the piece of paper in front of him.
"I just thought of a slogan for your painting Henry." She waved the paper at him.
Slowly, he took the piece of paper from her and the moment his hand touches the paper, it glowed and looking at the words, it burned red right in the dimly lit tent.
"Look in the dark...death is rampant...shadows dance, shadows dance"
While reading Jenny's slogan, a picture of perplexing images of shapes and lines and pictures rose in Henry's mind. The image was distracting abstract and perfect unison of startling colors which in seconds became a disturbing picture of a murder scene, the blood-red color mostly outstanding of all. And right then and there, Henry had a glimpse of his soon to be - masterpiece.

So they set to work as soon as possible. Henry finished the painting almost simultaneously and write the slogan as a caption below the painting.
"Perfect!" Jenny said admiringly at their artwork, her eyes shining with triumph.
"Not yet."Henry said looking thoughtfully at the painting; hands rubbing absent-mindedly on his chin. A gesture which he was known of when in deep thought. Then slowly...he brought out a knife; with one sweeping motion - cuts his palms across the painting til his own blood colors the painting of blood of the person on his painting.

At that same moment, in a busy city..

Harry was running frantically out in the deserted street. Beads of sweat falls from his temple, his eyes a mirror of fear as he glances back every now and then behind him.
His assailants are getting closer now. He should have known better than to messed with Bruno's gang. But he had been losing rope to cling on to and their offer seems to be a great one at that time. When it's payback time, it's too late for him to to back away now. But the payment was more than he could imagine, more than his conscience would allow - to steal the church's sacred image of Virgin Mary! Christ! That was a huge crime and unforgivable sin!
So he tried to report of Bruno's evil plan instead. What he didn't expected was one of the officer's involvement in Bruno's gang. So, he's messed up and now. ..he becomes their target. Too late now, his men are getting closer for him to ever escape his cruel fate - kill him on the spot, that was Bruno's orders.
He frantically tries to hide from them, turning around a corner. Stupid and biggest mistake; it was a dead end corner!
Harry tries to plead one last time, with out-stretched hands and begging face. But their face shows no mercy. Nothing but evil grin as they was about to execute their master's order.
Harry was cornered- with nowhere left to flee.
They got hold of his poor trembling body. And their shadows tell it all; as they brutally, ruthlessly stab and knock him down over and over.

Afterwards, they disengage from him. Leaves him lying on the ground, lying on his pool of blood...

Surprisingly and most bizare of all...the scene is just as how exactly Henry had painted it!

-----
"What do you say it was now, Jenny?" Henry asked examining his work.
Jenny look stunned at the transcription of the painting. "That was awesome perfect!"
"A masterpiece!" Henry sound proud and satisfied as they both looked at their work.
