The little obedient Wall Clock 2

by DavidBokolo
As I opened the door to the room, the clocked chimed the hour. It is 2 O'clock in the afternoon. I have a class to attend at 2.30.

"That's what I have been saying," that was my younger brother. He had come in behind me to 'borrow' a pen. "I told you to remove this clock to the sitting room but you will not agree. It Is always urging you to be in a hurry.'

"What is wrong in the clock keeping the time?" I reasoned with him.

"It's not about keeping the time," he insisted. It's the way it is making its time call, or time keeping. One can hardly concentrate in doing anything without it reminding you 'clonk, clonk, clonk', at very odd hours. I think it is better to be kept in the sitting room," he rounded off.

"I still want it in the room." I pressed on, searching frantically in the drawer for the pen. I looked at the clock click-clicking away. seemingly quite unaware that we are deliberating its future. I can't help thinking how i almost ended its life the previous night by removing its life support.

That however, do not give my brother the right to insist that it should be taking away. I could hear the tone of the tick-ticking changing its rhyme to a very melodious tune as if it accepted my resolve to keeping it in the room. We have unwittingly become allied.

"Please, take the pen and go," I turned and handed the pen to him. "I am not removing the clock from here."

"Ha!" he smile broadly at me. "Brother, I like this clock and I wanted it to be in the sitting room so that I could be Looking at it always," and with that,he went away leaving me behind to lock the door.

I hope I will not be late for class.
