The Life I owe

by Zhalea
She was crying hard as she looked at the thing she’s holding. Those two red lines, that will surely change her life. She’s shaking as she looked at it again, trying to make sure that she was not deceived by her vision. Her hand was shaking as she looked at it---Positive! There were two red lines there.
She cried so hard, trying to think the next step. What is she going to do now? She couldn’t go back home and tell her family about the life she’s carrying inside her. Her parents will kill her. She knows how bad his father when he gets angry. He might kill her once he found out that she was pregnant and couldn’t find the father. And her mother, her mother who has the highest hopes and dreams for her. The news will break her heart. It will disappoint her.
She went out of the public toilet and try to compose herself. This is not the time to lose hope. She needs to think of a better way to solve her problem.
She reached her apartment and hit the bed. Still, couldn’t figure out the best way to do.

Her phone rang and she saw the caller, it’s her mom. She doesn’t want to talk to her, she might breakdown and cry when she hears her mother’s voice. She ignored the ringing of her phone and closed her eyes. She couldn't afford to abort the baby, but she couldn't return home in that situation. Her head is throbbing, she feels dizzy thinking of a better way to do.

An idea sprang up her mind. She hurriedly packed her clothes to a big luggage bag. After she finished packing her stuff, she sent a message to her mom informing her that she got a new job offer from another city and couldn’t come home for a long time. It was a lousy alibi, but she couldn’t reason well.

She heard her phone rang and as expected, it was her mother calling her. She answered the phone and told her mother that she took another job from another city. It might take her months before she can get home since the job required her to stay there. Luckily, her mother believed her lousy alibi. No, her mom is not stupid, but she trusted her.

She walked towards the nearest bus station, and took the bus going to Cordova. It usually takes 5 hours of travel going there and another 2 hours by boat going to the Lady of Great Help Monastery.

She stayed in the monastery until she gave birth to a baby girl. The nun took care for 9 months and helped her with her pregnancy. it was difficult, especially when she was experiencing morning sickness.

On the day she gave birth, she was crying as she looked at her child, her angel. She couldn’t believe that she was able to carry her for 9 months. She didn’t regret anything. She was glad that she chose to let the baby live.

After two days, she packed her things again. She was crying hard on that day. She doesn’t want to leave her child, but she needs to. She left the child under the care of nuns. she knew that they can take a better care of the child, compared to her .She didn’t dare took a last glance on her daughter. It’s shattering her heart into pieces knowing that she will leave her little, the baby who'd been part of her for 9 months. She doesn't have the choice.

28 years later..

An accident happened, she was involved in a car accident that caused her a 50-50 chance to survive.
She had brain hemorrhage and doctors couldn’t promise her family if she can survive the operation since her case was so complicated.
Neuro doctors and surgeons reviewed her case and all of them agreed that she got a lower chance to survive the operation.
But, one of the surgeons took risk, and said she will be the one to perform the operation.
Other surgeons looked at her and couldn’t believe that she will risk helping the woman.
The surgeon went to see the woman; she was lying on bed with a lot of apparatus attached on her body.
She came closer and whispered something to the woman.

The next day, the operation was scheduled; the operation was so complicated, that they resuscitated the woman twice. The surgeon didn’t give up. You can see the determination on her face despite the exhaustion she felt.

After nearly 12 hours of operation, the surgery was successful and the woman was transferred to the recovery room. The woman stayed in comma for 2 days, but miraculously, she was able to wake up on the third day.
The story about the female surgeon was relayed to her and requested to see the surgeon so she can personally thank her.
The surgeon came to her room, and the woman felt a sudden rush of emotion as she looked at the female surgeon. She was saying thank you to the female doctor for not giving up on her and for giving her the second life.

And the surgeon replied, I did because, I am grateful for your courage. You were the one who allowed me to live in this world and see the beauty in it. You didn’t give up on me despite the difficulty you experienced...MOM.

If you love the woman, don’t let her chase you.

A real man who loves a woman will do his best to prove his love....

I don’t easily trust.
I am a cynic when it comes to the idea of true love.
I’m afraid to fall in love....
