The Crescent Night

by Akanksha Chowdhury
So awestruck I was
The stars twinkle with consent,
The birds flew back, the sun slid below the horizon
And the moon rose with its most beautiful crescent.

As its beam touch each earthbound oeuvre
Calming every night so subtly,
The moon fondled me by the same token
That crescent night compassionately.

Like a placid lake, quiet and peaceful
The ambience never felt so soothing,
I could solely sense the vibrancy of the vibe
As my mood was pacifying.

With each of its beams touching the being
The poised arc hypnotized me,
Such a haunting night, yet so pleasing
The moon revealed its lucidity.

My captivated eyes could see nothing else
But just the nimble moon,
Its crescent beauty had so enchanted me
Sending me into a swoon.

Overhead in the nocturnal sky
The mooned crescent embellished the night,
Nothing could mean more to me
But the nightfall and the moonlight.

Oh! Such a memorable instance!
I could never forget its fluidity,
The crescent moon mated the tranquil night
Took my breath away from me…

In this world full of violence, hatred, hypocrisy, hunger - both for food and for power, discrimination, I always look forward to my "home", the only place I find love and peace. But the question is can we not make the entire world our "home"?
