Terror felt at Lakeside Cottage

Lakeside cottage. Sounds like a lovely and welcoming house name reading it alone.

Especially when the Henderson family were standing outside an estate agent window looking at the houses for sale. During a lovely warm afternoon midway through May. At least that was what the Henderson family thought and knew immediately that the Lakeside cottage was going to be their new home. So they straight away decided that they were going to buy the house. Going back in the nineteen eighties. That exact memory always brought back floods of memories back every time May Henderson thought back. Even after thirty or so years.

It was the following summer when May Henderson, the Hendersons only child, had just finished studying at Lakeside secondary school. Which she was so delighted with. Finishing school meant no more stress after having taken GCSE exams, no more class lectures. What a great relief for her it was. She was going to start to attend Mayfield local college the coming autumn term. Studying her first year doing an art studies course. Which she was really looking forward to. May Henderson, had always disliked living in the large city of Laymouth. She absolutely hated everything about living in an urban area. The noisy traffic on a 24/7 basis, the black car fumes and the overcrowding of people. It was a wishful thinking dream come true for May. It really was. She found herself literally counting down the months and days slowly. She could not wait that much longer.

Before they knew it the time had already come for May Henderson and her parents to move to the Lakeside cottage in the small rural village of Mayfield. However they soon knew that there was something not quite right about the house. From the outside of the Lakeside cottage it all looked lovely and welcoming, but on the inside it was a totally different story. On that very first evening of moving into the Lakeside cottage, Alex Henderson, Mays father, was sitting in their front living room watching some of the local news on television. At the time he was home alone, seeing as both May and his wife Susan Henderson had gone out for the evening. When all of a sudden he heard a loud bang coming up from the ceiling above from the attic bedroom. And the cottage always seemed to remain at an icy cold temperature, even during the summer months of the year.
